While the case is nice and well padded it is bulky and somewhat a pain to deal with while on the go. I'd rather keep the camera unprotected and simply use the shoulder strap while only using this case to store the camera when not in use.

I bought this case so I could protect my D300 while carrying it around, and leave my hardcase with the rest of the kit in the car. Being a Nikon product it's a perfect fit for the D300 with the 17-55mm f/2.8 lens. However that's probably about the biggest lens that with D300 is going to fit easily in this case. The case is well and durably made of high quality leather. While not cheap I think it a very fair value and as far as I'm concerned there isn't anything to criticize about it. However there is one point to clarify. This case is not really suitable or intended to hold anything but the camera with lens & strap attached, so as usual the value of this items depends on fit with intended use. For also packing a couple of filters along with spare battery & memory card, I'd recommend one of the Tamrac holster bags instead, though this Nikon bag is noticeably higher quality.

Easy to carry by itself, but if you want something to put inside your bag It wouldn't be good, It's big. Great for huge lens - If you have a 50mm, or something like this, I would not recommend this case.

It looks nice but does function as I thought it would. It is too snug with my longest lens which I use all the time therefore almost doesn't close. It doesn't hang nicely when fitted properly. I thought it would be like the old school cases that stayed attached to the body - my fault for not reading the fine print I guess. It now holds my unused SLR.

I have big bags for all my gear and they are great when I need all my stuff with me. However there are times when all i want to take with me is my camera and ONE lens. This is a perfect solution. It allows me to protect my most important investment. I don't have to worry about shirt buttons scratching up my screen and such. The case is padded in all the right places and allows me to access the camera quickly and easily and looks great too. A great buy!

Great protection and looks great as well. Well made, it fits my D300s perfectly, even with a 300mm Nikon lens. I'll be using it every time I use the camera. Highly recommended.

Took this on a cruise vacation. It was great for protecting my camera from "bumps and bruises" while over my shoulder. Do wish it had a pocket for some memory card or filter storage though.

Fits the camera with a medium telephoto like a glove. First case I have bought in 35 years as a pro photographer. I just thought that my D300 should have some shelter in between uses. Camera may easily be removed effortlessly, leaving the case behind.

Great semi-soft case. It keeps dust off the camera and when I am doing a lot of moving around it gives protection from scrapes and dings for both the camera and the lens.

perfect protection from scratches and vibration when traveling by car. Works great for lenses up to the length of the f/2.8 105mm Micro (with shade removed or reversed).

In general, this is very good, lighweight and good fit. Only one minor point is that it fits perfectly, and there is no extra space for anything else.
