The Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye is a full-frame fisheye auto focus lens that fills the entire 35mm negative with a full 180 degree diagonal field of view. This unique autofocus lens enables you to create a variety of unusual compositions even when shooting ordinary subjects.

The improved DG lens coating reduces flare and ghosting, which is a common problem of digital cameras, and also creates an optimum color balance.

Since most Digital SLR cameras use a smaller image sensor size (APS-C) than 35mm film cameras, 180 degree angle-of-view can not be obtained with Digital SLR cameras. With those cameras only the center part of the frame is used, therefore, peripheral distortion will be very small.

The super wide angle of this lens makes it ideal for use with digital SLR cameras, providing a focal view of approximately 23mm.

Accepts removable gelatin filters in a holder near the rear of the lens

Comments about Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Autofocus Lens for Canon EOS:

I was going to get the Canon 15mm for my 5DII, but was impressed with reviews I read for the Sigma. So far I can only confirm them. The Sigma seems to be just as sharp and gets the same great colors. It has two advantages over the Canon: the lens hood protects the lens better than the Canon cap. (BTW: it's not more difficult to get on and off unless you think you have to remove the lens cap first). It also has a closer minimum focal distance, which can be useful at times.

Comments about Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Autofocus Lens for Canon EOS:

After years of debating, researching, and stalling, we purchased our first fisheye lens, and it is everything we hoped it would be! It has changed how we look at the world around us. Everything from our kids, to the ocean, to the back yard is seen in a new and refreshing way.

The lens itself is durable and light and comes in it's own well built case. Even though you can't put a lens cap on it, it does come with a type of shroud that goes around the built in hood, and on that it has a lens cap. So as long as you put that shroud on after use, you're good to go. The picture quality is awesome, especially with our full frame Canon 5D Mark II.

I really don't have anything negative to say about this lens, it's a great lens. I will say though, that I think it's a bit pricey, but we knew that going in so we saved and budgeted for it. Sometimes you have to bit the bullet!

Bought this lens to use primarily for shooting Spherical Panoramics. Reduces the number of shots I need to take to about 16, but still provides high resolution.

Lens not as sharp as my Canon L lenses, but not bad. To this point, I've generally been stopping down to f8. More flare than I'd like, but acceptable. Focus is slow, but I generally shoot with manual focus anyway.

The 15mm f/2.8 EX DG is built like a tank. This lens is best used for special effects. Although it distorts pictures a bit, but when they are fixed with photoshop, they still preserve the detail and sharpness. The lens has a noisy autofocus; I wouldn't use it while vows are being said at a wedding. Best use for Landscape and close ups (great depth of field on close ups). Overall, the lens is great, compact and strong.

Comments about Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Autofocus Lens for Canon EOS:

I bought this lens primarily for vacation photography - which I haven't been able to use it for yet, as it is November and I vacation in the UP of Michigan! However, I have got brilliant shots of our church's band and some fun, crazy ones of my kids with it so far.

This lens is sharp and seems to focus fine to me. (I'm still getting used to it - I had a couple focus mishaps the first day...I'm sure there is a bit of a learning curve with it!) I'm sure Canons new diagonal fisheye has better performance, but for the price this one can't be beat. I just couldn't justify the price I would pay for the Canon lens for a lens that I will primarily be using for 'fun'. (I had also got wonderful pictures with Sigma's 10-20mm before I switched to a full-frame camera, so I knew I would be happy with this lens.)

Opening up to 2.8 is great, too as I will be doing a bit of astrophotography with it.

The edges are distorted a bit, something I wanted in this lens. I have read some complaints about the distortion, but if you buy a fish-eye that's what you are looking for, right? Anyway, I was!

Comments about Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Autofocus Lens for Canon EOS:

Bought this Lens cause i wanted a very wide angle lens to capture mainly landscapes. The 24mm of my standard zoom was not enough for me on my 5dMkII.

Pros: Light, Solid (metal build), superb IQ, sharp, good color balance, gives dramatic scenes. Nice close focusing. Flare resistant. the 2.8 aperture is nice when in low light.

Cons: Some Chromatic aberration near corners, no weather sealing, no protective filter can be use, should handle with care.

I'm an amateur photographer and was looking for a new lens to add to my lineup, it was between this and a prime telephoto, I am extremely glad that I chose this! The distortion is amazing, and is so much fun to play with. Taking shots of even ordinary every day things becomes instantly amazing. The focal length is a huge boon to shooting as well, as you can literally get inches away from your subject and still be able to focus in on it. It definitely takes some getting used to as objects appear much farther away in the viewfinder than they actually are. The lens is built solidly and I have no major gripes with it. It is unfortunate that you can't put a filter on it to protect the lens, but that's a trade-off you'll have to be willing to make. Overall this is a fantastic lens, and I highly recommend it!

Comments about Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Autofocus Lens for Canon EOS:

I use this lens for landscapes and walk around.

The minimum focus distance is why I chose this Sigma over the Canon version. I'm glad I did so because the fish eye effect is so much more exaggerated when you are closer to the subject.

What isn't so great is that the lens cover and adapter is rather difficult to get on and off. This makes a speedy swap difficult.

Nonetheless, this lens gives me opportunities to try new compositions. I bought it so I can learn to see the world differently. Loving it so far!

Comments about Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Autofocus Lens for Canon EOS:

I decided to buy an autofocus fisheye lens for my Canon 5D and there was a question whether to buy original EF 15/2.8 or to choose Sigma instead. I found the original Canon lens to be inferior due to its build quality. The only original Canon fisheye feels like a toy: its focus ring has significant play, AF is noisy and slow and overall build quality resembled me of cheap EF 35/2 lens.

Sigma comes with a nice padded case that put most Canon L lens bags to shame. Sigma build quality is excellent: there is no play of focus ring and lens feels rock solid.

I found Sigma too soft wide open if used for landscape pictures wide open. Also strong vignetting is obvious until closed to at least f/4. Surprisingly if used as macro lens it produces sharp images at center even wide open, but macro uses are very uncommon with this lens.

Also it turned out that it has visible back-focus and I had to manually adjust my 5D Mk II to -12 for that lens.

However if stopped to f/4 this lens starts to produce usable images and at f/8 it is very sharp everywhere except extreme corners.

Chromatic abberations are pronounced, but for lens that wide it is normal.

This lens is very sharp, and offers a very wide field of view. The image quality is outstanding! I've been using this for a couple of weeks on my full-frame 5D and this lens is spectacular!

Comments about Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Autofocus Lens for Canon EOS:

Had a chance to play with this lens at some events. Really good for some effects types of shots and really really good for a high perspective shot, either on a pole or from a balcony. It's so wide that sometimes it's tricky to get everything really really sharp when wide open/dim shooting because farther objects and people are quite small in the viewfinder. Distortion is not as pronounced with FOV crop sensor, so some may say just looks like a cheap lens. Want to try it out on a 5D soon. Very fun up close, probably it's strongest suit is to get close to babies and have interested parents in the background - be careful - close is within grabbing distance!

Comments about Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Autofocus Lens for Canon EOS:

I'm using this lens for urban sports photography and sometimes to do some internal photography.
The image comes with a very sharp focus, i love the quality of this lens!
I think the worst part is that it distorts the walls too much to use it in Arquitectural photographs.
I've been with Sigma Fisheye for 2 years now and it's still perfect.
                            Just Love it!
