I used this remote to do astrophotography with my Canon 10D attached to an 800mm telescope and to my 70-200 2.8 lens.
It worked very well, responded quickly, did the job.
The cable is somewhat short and I had to ground it to the tripod to try to minimize any cable vibrations any movement would apply to the camera. This were very slight when careful.
Another downside is the bug bites you will get after spending 4 straight hours outside taking pictures of the sky! Well worth it :)

I bought this item because it seemed to be a cheap way out, as compared to the prices of the Canon brand remotes. But, what they say is true. You do get what you pay for. The item arrived broken. But, even if the item did work, I am sure I would have returned it. It looks and feels like a very cheap and flimsy product. I learned a lesson. After investing so much money into the camera body and many lenses, why cheap out on a remote???

I haven't had it very long but it is well built and performs a simple task. I had a similar remote release for Canon film cameras that never failed.

Excellent remote for the money. Not sure if there is supposed to be a slight delay with it but after a few uses you adjust with no issues.
Can't beat it for the price!

Works great for close-up flower photography from a tripod. I loop the cord around the arm of the tripod head to keep it handy while I focus.

I bought this for my 5D a couple of years ago. It is still going strong. I recently got a 1D Mk IV and tried this release on it even though the specs don't mention Mk IV compatibility. It works like a charm!

I owned the OEM Canon model until it dipped it accidentally in a stream that I was photographing. so I tried this model and it works as good as the original equipment with the same functions including the bulb lock.

Comments about Dot Line Remote Release:
Although it feels sturdy enough to last a while, the connector @ the flash unit will not permit the flash to lock down completely.
It did work off and on, but is not reliable enough for my needs. It will be going back.
