I use this cable with my 4x5 and my Mamiya TLR, I lost it while camping and had to replace it. The good thing is that was available at B&H.
It is very flexible and the disk lock is great.

I use this cable release for both 35mm and 4x5 photography. The release action is super smooth and very consistent. Especially good for very cold weather photography as the cable release stays flexible and does not become rigid. I own three of these - the best I have ever used.

In a time exposure you use the release to hold the shutter open until you feel enough light has been exposed on the film. You can also lock the shutter open so you don't have to hold it open.
