This padded divider set definitely creates a new case out of Pelican's with the pluck foam. As you know, the foam will self-destruct eventually, but the padded dividers will last a lot longer. Above all, the thin walls allow more room in your case since you cannot create many small compartments with the pluck foam, it just will not hold up. I needed to create a case for many lenses and other video gear, and this was the solution to compartmentalize each into it's own area. It comes with enough material to make many variations, but has it's limits since there's only two long horizontal dividers. Way better than foam, and visually more functional

Definitely worth paying a little extra for this, than getting another pick & pluck set up! My pick & pluck had been plucked one too many times, so I opted for this divider set. Now I can reconfigure as needed.

I bought this to replace the rather abused pick and pluck foam for my primary Pelican case. The foam had broken apart at some points and as I had changed equipment it was impossible to reconfigure.

I now have a lot better system.

A little pricey, but does the job.

Unfortunately, Pelican no longer produces these liners in gray as pictured (only black). This makes finding camera accessories, which are mostly black, difficult to find.

I actually use this with a Porta Brace (PB-2600) and it fits perfectly. Highly customizable too.

I originally had the foam inserts. My only regret is that I didn't get the padded dividers first...could have saved some money! These dividers, in my opinion, are much better than the foam inserts. You can rearrange the dividers as needed and there is less wasted space inside the case. My only real beef with ALL pelican products is their price.

This is a great way to keep everything together, but separate. The Pelican system is the best for sure and these dividers are great. It fits perfectly in the 1550 and does what it's supposed to. I chose this over the foam option because once you commit to the layout with the foam that's it. With this insert you can change things as you need. I'm stoked.

I appreciate that this series of dividers comes with several clever adjustable size dividers. Unless you have a very oddly shaped item to store I would recommend a divider system over the foam option.

Pelican Case can be deliverd in various sizes, colors, and with various "inside equipment" :the standard : "Pick and pluck" modular foam.the reviewed : The padded divider.the technical : a metal frame mount.The last one is for very particular usages, like mouting mesurment or control pannels.The "pick and pluk" is quite fine, with the capacity of getting the exact shape of the objects to protect with the modular foam ! But once it has been prepared, it's quite hard to change the shape or size for an other object.Here comes the padded divider : made of a foam for the lid, and a full set of dividers, witch can be relocated again and again to accomodate photographer's equipment !Complexe shapes are harded to protect with the padded divider set than with the foam set, but for photo and video, it's near perfection !

I used to use the foam padding and break out shapes for delicate gear, but I find that it doesn't last that long with a lot of use -- the padded divider set is actually the perfect long-term solution for a Pelican case. You get a lot of pieces to organize with and it's well padded enough for air travel. My only complaint might be that it's difficult to create some of the odder configurations you might need due to the uniformity of most of the dividers, but you can make almost anything work.

This divider set perfectly suits my needs for moving/traveling my strobe lighting kit from location to location. The dividers are easy to customize in a variety of ways that best suit specific gear. It's strong and durable and makes access to various small parts of my kit a no fuss exercise. The only bad thing being that it fits so much gear it makes the case a bit heavy. But I always have what I want when I am on location. Safe, dry and dust free.

Instead of fitting into a Pelican case, I put the liner into a office cabinet drawer for easy but protected access.

I ordered the divider set to go in some cases I bought used. I have used pull & pluck foam in the past wich was OK, till you changed your gear setup. This way I can add or remove dividers as needed. The 1550 has the depth to atually carry seroius gear.
