Pentax F5P 3' Extension Cord for Off-Camera TTL Flash with Pentax Cameras - Requires Off Camera Shoe Adapter F & Either Hot Shoe Adapter F OR Hot Shoe Adapter Fg (Not Included)
The Pentax F5P Extension Cord provides Off-Camera TTL Flash capability for Pentax cameras when used in combination with:
- Off Camera Shoe Adapter F (#31022)
and
- Hot Shoe Adapter F (#31046) OR Hot Shoe Adapter FG (#31045).
The difference between Hot Shoe Adapter F & Hot Shoe Adapter FG is that the "FG" version allows the use of a camera's pop-up flash while the "F" version obstructs use of pop-up flashes but has a flash shoe of its own.
Note! The longer 9.5' (2.9 m) long F5PL (#37349) can be substituted for the F5P Extension Cord in this combination if greater distance is required between the camera & flash

I have an older Pentax AF400FTZ flash that I wanted to put on a remote flash bracket and this is one of two items I needed to make it work. And now it works, perfectly. I'd gotten a cheapy shoe and cord online, it didn't hold up at all. This product is made well and performs perfectly.

Used with off-camera flash in brackets and hand held. Well made and easy to mount securely.
After a few years of use intermittent shorts/opens can give erratic flash operation. Having an extra cord is great for troubleshooting.

Connecting remote wired flashes can sometimes be a hit-or-miss affair (PC cords working loose or being pulled out), but not with the Pentax F5P cord. The cord threads securely into the Adapter F/Fg and will not work loose from the hotshoe adapters. The fact that the cord is coiled makes it easy to wrap out of the way and helps keep it from getting fouled in flash handles, etc. I use the F5P cord wherever possible (even over the Pentax wireless setup) because I know it will work when I need it.

I needed this cord to connect my AF540 flash on a bracket to my K20D. Not having seen one before, I didn't know what to expect for what (at first) seemed to be an overpriced accessory. I should have had more faith in Pentax!
Quality on this cable is superb, and the screw-lock connectors at both ends keep the cord engaged on both the flash and the shoe adapter. The connectors seem well made, and the cable itself is thick and of high quality.
I was also a bit concerned about the length of the cable, thinking that it might be too long so as to interfere with operating the camera or viewing all the controls. Not to worry. It's a perfect length for working with a bracket, including when the bracket is flipped for vertical shots.
Highly recommended.

Another must have for Pentax DSLR users who need off-camera flash capabilities. However,unless all you want to use it with is a flash bracket, I would recommend getting the longer 6' cord instead, otherwise this three footer will do what it was designed to do.
