The DM812 from Lectrosonics is a digital audio processor, that shares many of the DSP functions common in the marketplace, but with a very comprehensive routing system that allows any input to be patched to any single or multiple outputs simultaneously. Primary applications include sound reinforcement, boardroom conferencing, houses of worship, courtrooms and hotels. Any place which requires the use of multiple microphones and loudspeakers.

The unit provides 8 microphone/line inputs, 12 line outputs (4switchable to microphone output) with each input possessing a fixed sequence of multiple DSP filters, ADFE (automatic digital feedback eliminator), a compressor and a digital delay. During the routing stage (the matrix mixer), gain can be adjusted and then each output provides a digital delay, multiple DSP filters and a compressor/limiter. Modules have extensive editing parameters, and can be switched in or out of the signal path as required.

The DM812 features an algorithm to help with the performance of multiple microphone sources. Each microphone input can be assigned to a different mode that will govern how that microphone behaves in respect to other open sources. Attenuation of various sources is done in an intelligent and seamless manner, eliminating gating and its detrimental effects. Further, since the processing happens on the output, each input can function differently at each destination.

The unit can be programmed from the front-panel or via Windows software and a RS232 or USB equipped computer. Remote hardware control is also possible once the initial set-up is complete. Multiple units can be interfaced for greater system resources. Finally, all functions are available on all inputs and outputs without impacting DSP resources. Latency is minimal, even in multiple unit situations.

Digital matrix processor with 8 microphone/line inputs, 12 line outputs (4switchable to microphone output)
8 x 12 digital matrix mixing with gain adjustable from -69dB to +20dB
Microphone outputs can be used for connecting to a recording device
Proportional gain auto mixing algorithm with "AutoSkew," a process that eliminates artifacts such as comb filtering and abrupt gating that occur with conventional automatic mixing schemes
Auto mixing operates at the output of the matrix, with each input channel being able to participate differently in each output mix
Each output has its own NOM (Number of Open Microphones) mixing bus
6 filter stages plus compressor, ADFE (Automatic Digital Feedback Elimination) and delay on each input
9 filter stages plus compressor, limiter and delay on each output
128 macros available for storing up to 64 commands per macro
USB and RS-232 interfaces for setup and control
Digital I/O ports for "daisy chaining" and to connect other LecNet 2 devices
AMX and CRESTRON compatible
Frequency Response 20Hz to 20kHz, +/-1dB
Dynamic Range Input: 102dB, unweighted (20Hz to 20kHz)
Output: 105dB, unweighted (20Hz to 20kHz)
Inputs 5-pin Phoenix connectors
Outputs 5-pin Phoenix connectors
Input Impedance 2.5kΩ
Output Impedance 50Ω differential line level only
Maximum Input Level +20dBu @ 0dB gain
Maximum Output Level +20dBu
Sample Rate 48kHz
Phantom Power +15VDC
Crosstalk Line Level -103 dB
Mic Level -101 dB
THD + N 0.02%, nominal input level
Dimensions (WxDxH) 19 x 7.5 x 1.75" (483 x 191 x 45mm)
Weight 3.75 lbs (1.7kg)
Specialties Matrix mixing allows "mix-minus" routing to reduce acoustic feedback and eliminate echoes caused by speaker/microphone coupling in teleconferencing applications
