The Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC lens offers a super-wide zoom solution to digital cameras, and was exclusively designed to suit the characteristics of digital SLR cameras. The super wide-angle capability of this zoom lens (equivalent range of approx. 15-30mm when used with a Pentax digital SLR camera(*) makes it a very powerful tool for both indoor and landscape photography.

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC J Autofocus Lens for Pentax Digital SLR Cameras:
I bought this lens to take interior house photos and for landscape photography. I rented a Pentax 12-24mm lens for comparsion and found no difference in image quality. Save yourself a couple of hundred dollars and invest in this lens. It's a great wide angle lens and the sweat spot is F11. I would recommend using a tripod and not use the lens wide open. Distortion and converging lines can occur at the 10mm setting if you're not careful. But this can be corrected with post processing software

This is an amazing lens. It's opens up a whole new perspective to your photography. After much research I settled on the Sigma and it's been a fantastic addition. Great clarity throughout and it works great with my Pentax Kr.

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC J Autofocus Lens for Pentax Digital SLR Cameras:
I use this mostly for a different perspective (10mm) and normal shots (20mm). During indoor events this stays on the camera half of the time. You just can't beat how it captures a room or crowd or unique photo. Keep in mind, a flash is needed for 20mm shots in dim light. A kit lens will handle light better on 18-20mm shots. Images are sharp and full of detail right out of the box, no camera adjustments needed. Contrast and other colors are not bad, but less saturated than my other lenses. Instead of changing in camera saturation, I run a profile in Lightroom to give colors a boost. It is screw drive, which is snappy, but not fast enough for candid shots or sports (but this isn't that type of lens anyhow). I can't figure out the minimum focus distance because it will lock focus at different lengths even during one shot. Even so, it will focus around 5-6 inches, which helps create some unique photos at 10mm.
I like the weight (light) and the filter size (77mm) and overall feel of the lens. It is a good balance when on the camera. The lens pouch/container and center squeeze cap is standard Sigma issue and great for storage.
I don't like the quality of the hood and the way it mounts. I do not see it lasting long, but time will tell.

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC J Autofocus Lens for Pentax Digital SLR Cameras:
Very well constructed, VERY Wide Lens. Focuses quickly as there is very little throw, Huge DOF. Seems quite good optically. I found 20mm wide open quite sharp on my copy. 10mm (why you are considering it) isn't as sharp wide open but is great way to this perspective and improves upon stopping down. Difficult lens to use well photographically as it's so wide, must get really close to subject to avoid it being a dot. Can almost touch subject and still get lots of background. Significantly wider than 16-45, but isn't petite by 15DA Limited comparison.

I have got this lens about three weeks ago for my trip to Las Vegas and Grand Canyon and places around in UT, AZ, NM. This was one of the best photo purchases I have ever made. Lens is very sharp, has excellent contrast, nice color balance and very low distorsions if you are not shooting parallel lines from close distance. It was quite good for shooting city landscapes and close indoors. I am not a pro, but do photography for >25 years. I think this is an excellent lens.

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC J Autofocus Lens for Pentax Digital SLR Cameras:
Great lens for the money. Focus can be hit and miss near minimum focus distance, but then this lens is almost always used with hyper focal/infinity so really isn't much of an issue.

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC J Autofocus Lens for Pentax Digital SLR Cameras:
Sharp, good color. It would stay on my camera 90% of the time if it were a 10-24. However, I find myself wishing for some extra reach on a frequent basis and end up switching to another lens. Shots at 10mm have a field of view that's greater than 90 degrees -- this makes for some amazing perspectives after one gets the hang of how to compose with this unusual view. Note that autofocus at 10-12mm is unreliable (this is a common problem it seems) so it's often best to simply focus it to almost infinity and leave it there for these wide shots.

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC J Autofocus Lens for Pentax Digital SLR Cameras:
I purchased this lens primarily for landscape and indoor photography. Although I have only had the lens a few weeks and not had time to explore its full potential, I am very impressed. The indoor perspective is impressive but outside - wow! Of course, at 10mm indoors you have to be careful with your composition! As you move toward the 20mm focal length, angles become less critical. The 10mm to 20mm focal length is perfect for me and nicely overlaps my 18 to 55mm Pentax Lens for wide angle shooting when I don't want to go really wide but gives me the option to really open-up. I have not encountered any issues with vignetting when using a filter but would also not likely press my luck and use more than one. I am very impressed with the sharpness of the lens. This is not a small lens (uses a 77mm filter) but it also feels solid and substantial without a great deal of weight - very comfortable on my camera, a Pentax K-10D. I am a great fan of Sigma lenses, owning two other models, in addition to my Pentax lenses. I am very happy I bought this lens - also pleased with B&H!

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC J Autofocus Lens for Pentax Digital SLR Cameras:
At 20mm f5.6 is sharp. Am learning the other focal lengths and focusing. Focus at infinity isn't always sharpest for distant objects, I think it depends on focal length used and aperture. Sharpness of focus for near objects (min focus to about 20 feet) is very good near the middle of the frame, less so towards the edges. Not sure if DOF is the issue or curvature of field. Bottom line, will keep for my K20 as a landscape lens and work the issues.

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC J Autofocus Lens for Pentax Digital SLR Cameras:
Sharp lens. It has minimal distortion for such a wide lens. Sigma engineers did their homework for this lens, as it has no fisheye effect for such a wide lens. It does have some trapezoidal distortion, so pictures of stands of straight trees will appear to be at a 30 degree tilt left or right from center, but that's at 10mm. While it isn't the fastest lens, I find it perfectly fast enough for all but the darkest of situations.
The body is plastic on the outside, but has enough heft to say that it's got a fair bit of metal in it. Which is good, considering it's Sigma's top of the line lenses. I only wish that the lens had a manual aperture adjustment.
This lens is on my camera more than any other, out of 9 other lenses, most of which are primes.

Can't get a better UWA lens at this price for Pentax. 10mm can really give an amazing effect especially for landscape. The only point about this lens is the construction, it doesn't give me a solid feeling.
