The Kenko 25mm Uniplus Tube DG (extension ring) is an accessory exclusively designed for use with standard AF lenses to shoot subjects at closer distance with higher magnification. Magnification ratio for the Uniplus Tube 25 is about 1/2 when used with a 50mm standard lens.
Provides perfect coupling with automatic aperture, TTL metering and AE mechanism. AF support is dependent on your lens' maximum aperture. As a rule, the lens has to be set to f/5.6 or brighter in order for the camera's AF system to work.
This DG Extension tube has upgraded "Gate-Array IC" circuitry to work better with digital SLR's and some of the digital SLR lenses.

Comments about Kenko 25mm Uniplus Tube DG AF Extension Tube for Sony SLR & Minolta Maxxum:
This length tube is best served on a lens focal length over or equal to 135mm. Using a 135mm prime it gives you abut a 3 foot working range giving you around 1:2 magnification. On lenses around 50mm the working range is to shallow unless you want to tripod mount and take severe close ups with maybe 6 inches of range or less. A "set" would be a better choice for a 50mm lens where you could use the 12mm tube which would be a better match.
A true macro lens is still the better choice however when going lightweight and carrying a Minolta 135/2.8 prime, this does get the job done for close-ups...

Comments about Kenko 25mm Uniplus Tube DG AF Extension Tube for Sony SLR & Minolta Maxxum:
I've not owned an AF extension tube before, only manual focus. Although I don't use AF all the time with my macro photography, having the option to do so with the extension tube attached is nice. Used in conjunction with a macro lens and additional extension tubes, macro photography takes on a whole new level.

Comments about Kenko 25mm Uniplus Tube DG AF Extension Tube for Sony SLR & Minolta Maxxum:
This is great to extend the focal length of any lens especially a macro lens. This extension lets you focus at a closer distance and therefore get great extreme close up shots of subjects. This tube is also good for shortening the focusing distance of a long range lens to get great portraits in close spaces. Works great on my Sony Alpha-700.
