I purchased this pod 2 years ago as a packable pod for my spotting scope/digiscoping setup. I put a Manfrotto 700rc2 head on it and this setup has worked wonderfully. I have had an Swarovski ATS 80 and 65 scopes on this pod and had no stability problems axcept in high winds. Previously I had been packing my Bogen tracker and this pod is barely a fraction the weight and I have not missed the old setup for an inch of the over 80 miles that this pod has spent in my pack. I have had this pod set up next to several of the significantly more expensive Outdoorsmans variety of pod and can honestly say this pod outperforms them in every way except extension length for about a third the cost. For its extension lenght this pod has worked well on sloped uneven terrain and rockslides. The one drawback to this pod is there is a column lock ring but no anti-rotation device which can occasionally be a pain.

Overall this pod is a steal for the price and you would be hard pressed to find a better ultralight packable pod THAT IS THIS FUNCTIONAL!!!!!

Pod used for camcorder and small slr while backpacking. As other rater stated, pod's reversible center column does not have anti-rotation groove. Pod does not include center column hook, or a compass. A well built mini pod overall.

Pod seems wonderful for its weight, the specs say it has anti rotation groove but it does not. Use this pod for spotting scope. It is extremely functional and most importantly packable. Nice little pod

Problems Encountered: No anti-rotation groove in center column. With a fluid head the friction lock for center column occasionally will loosen.
