The Sigma 2x EX DG APO Tele Converter (also known as a tele-extender) will multiply the focal length of the existing lens by 2x, and will cut back the amount of light by 2 f/stops. For example, using a 2x teleconverter with a 300 mm lens will effectively increase the focal length to 600mm. A lens set to f/2.8 will now be f/5.6.
Note: Sigma APO Tele Converter 1.4x and 2x are teleconverter lenses. Due to the high optical quality of this teleconverter, this item will only fit and work with a select list of lenses. Please click here for a compatibility chart of all compatible lenses.

Comments about Sigma 2x EX DG APO Teleconverter:
Pros: doubling your focal length for one third the cost of a larger lens. More specifically, this teleconverter is perfectly matched to my Sigma 50-150 F2.8 EX DG HSM II (now discontinued).
Cons: cutting my original F2.8 widest aperture to a F5.6...it does make a little bit of a difference in certain low light situations.

Comments about Sigma 2x EX DG APO Teleconverter:
this is a great addition to the sigma 70-200mm f2.8 HSM, the optics are very nice but the specific design only allows use with certain lenses. i carry it to extand the range when shooting wildlife which works well with the stabilized nature of all sony cameras. this turns the max apeture of f2.8 to f5.6 so low light focusing becomes a problem
