Photoflex LiteDisc Circular Reflector, Silver/Gold, 12" (30.5cm)
This is a Photoflex 12" (30.5cm), Silver/Gold LiteDisc collapsible reflector. Photoflex LiteDiscs and MultiDiscs are designed for use in the studio, or on location. They add light to shadow areas, add or subtract color casts, or diffuse harsh light.
LiteDiscs come in a variety of sizes: 12, 22, 32, 42, 52" circular, and 41 x 74" Oval.
MultiDiscs are available in 22, 32 and 42" circular sizes. MultiDiscs start as a White Translucent disc, with a reversible slipcover that provides white, silver, gold and soft gold surfaces.
Pick the size that is right for the size of your subject. Pick the color combination that is right for the ambient light, or your creative direction.
Each LiteDisc has a sturdy spring-steel frame that is covered by a heavy duty white fabric. With a twist of both wrists (and a little practice), they collapse to 1/3 their open sizes. Each comes with a nylon storage bag.
Insure consistency and ease of placement by ordering a LiteDisc Holder. The holder, combined with a light stand, acts as a second pair of hands, locking the disc in the exact desired position. The holder also helps your assistant hold the disc flat and steady, especially in outdoor breezes.

- Soft Gold - Combination of gold and silver in a zebra pattern, with a semi-matte surface -- best for all-round fill
- White Translucent - Softens harsh light sources, may also be used as a reflector
- Black - Subtracts reflected light and color casts from intense backgrounds

I bought both the gold/silver reflector and the white translucent. I use them primarily for photographing flowers and other small subjects (mushrooms, bugs, frogs, etc). They allow me to keep shooting, even when the lighting conditions are not ideal.
The gold/silver reflector is great for reflecting warm(gold) or neutral(silver) light back onto the subject. This counteracts any harsh shadows and enhances mid-tone contrast. When collapsed, it is small and weighs almost nothing. It stores easily in its own little pouch, so it's easy to take along anywhere. It's also a nice touch that the pouch has a tag to identify what's inside. That way, you don't have to open each pouch to find the one you want.
This size is perfect for my use, but if you intend on shooting larger subjects (e.g.: people), then you might want to choose a larger size.
Using this with the white reflector(diffuser) gives me complete control and greatly increases my opportunities to shoot, and the quality of the results.

I've used this reflector with a homemade plamp and it works great. Giving me just that little extra light I need for some of the macro work I do. I like the small size and even smaller carrying case. I try to carry as little bulky stuff in the field as I can.

Nice product. Folds small enough to fit in the bag and is light enough to carry. Works wonders in the field for flower and other macro or close up shots. The gold side is my favorite. Gives me early or late light any time of the day.
