Impact Sandbags come in a variety of shapes and weights. They are used for securing the bases of light stands and set walls. This Impact Empty Saddle Sandbag - 27 lb (Orange Cordura) has two wings, to allow draping over light stand legs. Each side of the bag has a hand strap for easy handling and hanging on hooks.
This is an empty sandbag, with a double zippered closure. Fill it with sand or small rocks upon arrival at location, and empty it at the end of the shoot -- no heavy shlepping or high shipping expenses.

I needed sandbags to weigh down my stands, especially when using boom arms. I like the orange color because it might draw attention to the light stand being there and prevent accidental tripping. I also looked at smaller, lighter bags, but I think the 27 pound capacity bags are more practical. However, these particular bags lack a couple of things which would make them more versatile.
It could use some kind of anti-slip coating on the underside of the bag... at least in the middle of it where it makes contact with the light stand... or some kind of strap to secure it to the center column to keep the sandbag from sliding down the support leg of the light stand. Right now I'm using "S" hooks I got from the hardware store to keep the bag from sliding. This would be a non-issue if you use C stands because of the design of their legs.
Overall, it's a good basic sandbag for not much money. I bought 2 of these bags and I'll most likely buy a few more shortly.

I have a couple of bags of another brand that were the same price, but are better built. This one has a single zipper on each pocket, the other has a double zipper (not a double pull, but a full blown second zipper in case one fails you don't have sand all over the place). Fabric on this is thinner than the other.

Comments about Impact Empty Saddle Sandbag - 27 lb (Orange Cordura):
I haven't had a chance to use them much yet, but I think they are the ideal size and color - very attention-grabbing and nice and heavy. I use them on c-stands mainly. For lighter applications, such as cheap lighting stands, a smaller bag might be more appropriate due to the weight.

Not much to it; a canvas bag with 2 flaps and 2 zippers per flap. Stick your sand/lead shot in a zip lock bag and then stick the filled zip lock bback in each saddle and you are good to go. Keeps your stands in place.

Bags are perfect if your taking your show on the road. Fill them up when you get to your location. dual zippers hold everything in. Not quite 27lbs when full though, I would say more like 20.

Good amount of weight, that you can vary by adding more or less sand to secure the stand.Otherwise the stand could be top heavy and fall over or could be blown over by wind.

So far so good! They seem well made and the price is right. Put a ziplock bag inside and fill with sand and you are ready to go. Like the bright orange color too....screams Watch Out!
I'll buy more of these.

Worked great, filled with gravel, on a light stand supporting a large Octobox extended to about 8'.

i am a disabled veteran re-entering the photography aren after a long absence. I wanted a lightweight mono light system that would meet my photographic objectives. I selected the Elinchrom DX500 kit, which has been my major purchase from B & H thus far. I found the lights to be lighter than anticipated, but their performance meets or exceeds my expectations. I do think the on-camera trigger is not quite to the quality one would expect, but none the less, it performs well, and helps keep this excellent light kit affordable.

I bought this to weigh down a softbox as I am starting to do more shoots outside. With two on each unit I feel like wind is not an issue. I like the color, it's hard to miss. Dual zippers help keep the sand in the bags.

Simple, durable, and right for the job. The double zipper helps seal the bag well, and adds to the durability.

Comments about Impact Empty Saddle Sandbag - 27 lb (Orange Cordura):
Seems to be pretty well made, but the zippers are flimsy, so don't stress them. Couldn't get more than 20 lbs of sand into them, but that should be enough for my needs. If the weight is critical, get a bigger bag.

Comments about Impact Empty Saddle Sandbag - 27 lb (Orange Cordura):
I use two of these to secure a minimax boom. They work perfectly. Light stands probably do not need this much weight to secure them, but I would recommend any of the Impact bags. The orange color does help with vision in low light environments to see the leg of the stands or just draw attention to the legs you may otherwise trip over you. These are accessories that could easily be ignored but it would be safer not to. [...] Get the play sand at the hardware store, 50lbs for $4.

Nothing to complain about. Great visibility with the orange color. Sand stays in the bags with the double zippers.
Buy play sand from the hardware store, don't buy sand intended for concrete mix. I learned this the hard way when the 50lb bag of sand got wet and turned into a block.

Realized my need for this product when I had to do a group photo using my camera set to self timer on a very windy rooftop location. The bag appears sturdy and well made (in the USA!) with heavy duty stitching and has double zippers that are independent of each other. For the use I expect to give it I can't see any problems. Since I just bought it I can't rate it for durability.

Not much to say about a sandbag. I bought these because [...]) I can empty them if I will be taking my gear on an airplane, then refill on-location.These sandbags hold sand, small rocks, etc and do what sandbags are supposed to do: hold down your lightstands. I filled mine with small pebbles and they worked just fine. The double zipper on each side will be nice for those who fill these with sand. The handle and material seem sturdy enough to handle the weight. Not much else to say!

This bag is big enough to secure even the largest of lightstands. It's put together extremely well and I dare to say it's an impossible task to lose it because it's VERY orange.

I've used these to in my studio and live events to hold microphone stands, light stands, American DJ light stands, etc. over the past couple of years.
I load them with a BRICK not sand on each side where they fit very well. I don't have to worry about sand spilling.
I use a sturdy "milk crate" to carry them to venues.
I like the bright orange color so attendees can see the bottom of the stand so they don't trip on them. (Though it is a universal law that attendees will never look where they are going and if there is a completely empty room and a light, mike stand, or tripod, the attendee will ALWAYS walk and trip over this item in an empty room! :)
They've also gotten wet when I used them at outdoor events in the rain (I did press photo/video) with no issues when they've dried out.
