An ideal choice for a beginner's first telescope, the Bushnell Voyager Sky Tour series feature a manual illuminated mount which, after a simple alignment procedure, works in conjunction with the Sky Tour handset to deliver you to the objects of interest in the nighttime sky. This version of the Voyager Sky Tour features a classic refractor design with a 2.4" (60mm) aperture, appropriate for observing the moon, five planets, and a nice collection of galaxies.
The telescope and the handset have no tethered connection; instead, after setting the telescope on level ground and pointing it in the direction of its built-in compass, you enter the date, time, and location to the Sky Tour handset. Knowing the telescope is level and pointing at the proper starting point is all the Sky Tour handset needs-based on combining this information with your inputted date, time, and locale, it tells you where to place the controls of the telescope to easily see planets, galaxies and the like. The mount's altitude and azimuth dials are illuminated in red, helping guide you without diminishing your night-adapted eyesight.
