The MON800 from Behringer is a compact monitor matrix mixer with four selectable, mixable stereo inputs and three selectable stereo speaker outputs. Each of the outputs has its own level control for precise monitoring. A six-level, multicolor LED output level meter provides excellent accuracy. All I/Os offer both RCA and 1/4" connectors for versatility.
The MON800 has an internal talkback microphone for convenience and offers mute, dim, and mono functions for flexibility. In addition to a wealth of connectors and controls, the MON800 offers terrific audio quality with low-noise amplifiers. The unit can also be stacked with other products from the MINI series to create a complete signal processing solution.

Comments about Behringer MON800 - Stereo Matrix Mixer:
I use this with my Final Cut Pro editing system. Its very helpful to have some kind of outboard audio gear, for volume if nothing else when using Final Cut. For one thing, FCP audio levels tend to be about 12-20 dB lower than the system audio. If you set the volume on your speakers for FCP levels, system alerts and iTunes will positively blast through your speakers.
I also have a Matrox MXO2 Mini, and when monitoring picture through that, it will be out of sync with audio coming through the Mac's audio outputs. So I needed a way to switch between different sources (Matrox, Mac, PC) using the same speakers. I can also connect headphones (with its own volume) which is very handy. The Mono and Mute buttons are also very useful.
My only complaint, and I would have known about it had I just done a bit more research, is that its not possible to adjust the signal strength of the different inputs. One can select or deselect any combination of four inputs, but they are all mixed straight to the output - with no option to boost or lower individual levels. Its a minor point, and at the price, not one to quibble over.

Comments about Behringer MON800 - Stereo Matrix Mixer:
I own this unit and the Big Knob from Mackie and from experience the MON800 does 97% of all the Big Knob jobs for pennys-on-the-dollar! Unless you want to drop over $150.00 more on the Mackie, THIS unit will fill the need. It's size is the only thing that keeps it in the shadow of the Mackie Big Knob! Would be more "professional" feeling if it were in a metal housing...but that does NOT stop it from doing the job!

This little pre is packed with features and makes the job very easy.
I use it for home AV with some behringer powered speakers that kick.
Plenty of inputs and outputs and simple controls - really works well with old electonics!
Love this thing.

Comments about Behringer MON800 - Stereo Matrix Mixer:
Simple, straight forward, does all it says - for not a lot of green. An extra star for the fact that it is the cheapest talkback headphone "system" BH sells.
Build could be heavier but what can you really expect for the price?
