Comments about Nikon Coolpix L3 Digital Camera (Silver):
I recently purchased this little camera as a digital counterpart to the Olympic Stylus 35mm point & shoot that I carry in my pocket while fishing, etc. & carrying an SLR body is inconvient. I've only played with this little Nikon for several days, but it certainly meets expectations, light & compact, very easy to use. The Macro feature & flash adjustment controls are readily accessible without having to run thru a bunch of menu items, a real plus when you run into an instant opportunity for a quick grab shot of a butterfly or something similar.
Problems Encountered: No problems, a couple of features that I don't care for, ie, if you disable the flash so that it not always in auto mode, a red, flashing Photo Blur warning will constantly signal on the 2 LCD, even if the camera is rigidally tripod mounted. Scene mode has so many icons to choose from that one will be forced to copy the page of instructions from the instruction manual to carry in your pocket with the camera Really, the total # of tiny icons is excessive & difficult to interpret for those of us with aging eyesight, but they are useable.
Previous Equivalent Items Owned: Many 35mm Point & Shoots over the years, from the first Konica AF to several Olympus Stylus models.
Items I Recommend: Rechargeable AA batteries for their higher capacity ratings, mine are 2500ma, & a good quality 1G SD card
Comments about Nikon Coolpix L3 Digital Camera (Silver):
I just pick this up yesterday morning as an early xmas gift for my mother who never had a digital camera and is still using a 20 year old compact 35mm. I was looking for something compact, simple and very easy to use with good picture quality. This camera certainly meets all the requirements and then some. It is a notch or two above your usual Kodak or Fuji. I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for a starter digital camera. It will meet or exceed your expectations. It exceeded mine. It takes great pictures. The sales people at B&H made my choice a lot easier. Check out their basic and deluxe packages, you can't go wrong. They have the best prices and service anywhere.
Problems Encountered: None
Previous Equivalent Items Owned: Chinon Auto 3001 35mm from 1987 (YIKES!!!)
Items I Recommend: 1GB sd card, CTA AA NiMH batteries with charger.
