I owned--and lost--Canon 8X32 WP binoculars...I was very satisfied with them. I looked around and finally decided on the Minox 8X42. I'm a very obsessive individual when it comes to stuff like binoculars so I didn't make the Minox choice easily (and without hours of consideration on the alternatives). What can I say? Tremendous improvement (over the Canons) in image clarity and brightness!
These things, I'm convinced, are the best I could buy. I cannot imagine anything better in the 8X42 range regardless of price, imagine stabilization, etc.
A wonderful find, great price, complete satisfaction. I'll pass the word on about the Minox line. And BH has always been very good to me.

Yes indeed,this pair came as surprise, although it shouldn't be knowing the optics quality of Minox.These are easily comparable with high end binoculars costing in the range of $1500.00-2000.00.I did side by side comparison with name brands that costs nearly 8-10 times of this and I didn't see 8-10 times the difference, the difference in clarity and comfort was almost identical, maybe 20 years of hard use may take its tool on the Minox and not on the other expensive ones as much, but who cares. If I ever break them or lost'm or if they're stolen, I know I can replace them for around[$] and can afford to buy 3 more for the whole family and enough money saved to go away somewhere spectacular for bird watching when compared to high end ones.I have also looked at the Canon 8X42 IS and the 10X50 IS, nikon 8X42, Pentax 8X42 on the same or lower price level, Pentax was the winner of the lower end bunch.

I bought these binoculars for sporting events and any daytime events. They are clear and easy to pull out and use. I looked at a high end pair that cost twice as much and the difference was minimal. They are not reccommended for night time viewing that wasn't my purpose for buying. Best Binoculars for the price.
