This Gitzo Bubble Level is for use with Series 2 Gitzo tripods (e.g. 1257, 1258, etc.). It attaches to the base of the center column, and helps achieve a finer degree of accuracy when capturing image content.

In use, however, it exceeded my expectations. It's easier to see than a bubble in the head while you're setting the legs. Good addition to the tripod that saves $$$.

Purchased this hoping it would work in ground level set config (or while using a Markins base instead of the center column), only to learn that it only fits over the center column. I'm perplexed why my $200 Manfrotto aluminum legs had a built-in level yet my $600 Gitzo legs do not :(

Does the job. Rated 4 instead of 5 for 2 reasons
1. Pricey
2. No instructions on where to install it.

It was this or a new tripod with a level in the head. Works fine, still allows the legs to fold normally around the level. Allowed my to do panos and get excellent alignment.

Comments about Gitzo Bubble Level for Series 2 Tripods:
A great add-on for series 2 or old series 1 tripods without a built-in level. (I added mine to a 1227.) This level just slips onto the bottom of the center column. You must remove the hook, then re-attach it after attaching the level. Nests between the legs when the tripod is folded, so it takes no space. What could be easier?

I used this Level with a Benro Tripod which was pretty much a knockoff of a Series 2 Gitzo. Since they are pretty much the same, it worked perfectly.
