The Tube MP Project Series from ART, is a professional quality audio interface that connects a microphone, instrument or line level signals to a mixer or other audio input as well as a digital audio workstation via a USB interface.
The unit uses a high quality 12AX7A tube to add warmth to the source material and is housed in an all-aluminum stackable chassis. It includes precision LED level metering circuitry and is capable of delivering up to 70dB of clean musical gain.
USB (Universal Serial Bus) provides quick and easy connection of the microphone preamp to a computer. Comments about ART Tube MP Project Series - Microphone Preamplifier with USB:
I'm not an audio engineer, nor a full time voiceover artist. But I need to record very high-quality voiceovers for use on Keynote videos for the Internet. Paid content people watch on a membership Web site.
I've been through the mill. 3 mixers. A small usb-powered preamp. The videocam mixer. All helped, but none was quite right. Plus, I needed something that would set up quick and provide clean, reliable sound that my engineer (3000 miles away) could bend, mold, and shape to his satisfaction.
This preamp, which I stumbled across by accident, does the trick. It's quick, easy, and the results are stunning.
I'm using a really good studio mic and garageband on a macbook pro. I can set up, record, and be out of there with everything put away in less than half an hour for a 10 minute voiceover. That's really important to me.
GREAT product.

Comments about ART Tube MP Project Series - Microphone Preamplifier with USB:
This is a nice unit, that has sufficient features to enable any microphone to be connected to a PC via USB. Low noise, very quiet tracks are produced. Indicators could be made more functional, but overall a good unit for the money.

I was looking for a pre amp that was affordable and had great quality and this is exactly what I needed. Connects directly to my mac pro w no problem what so ever. Just plug in your mic and record! The effects are limited and almost unnoticeable, but not too worried a long as it has phantom power. I am very happy w this purchase. I'd recommend it for the traveling recorder or someone who wants to record for very cheaply but w great sound.

Comments about ART Tube MP Project Series - Microphone Preamplifier with USB:
I got this preamp from B&H at a decent price. It came with USB connectivity for easy link-up to PC. I have not tried this yet, but it only adds a few dollars in price to the base ART Tube MP Project Series Preamp and should be worthwhile.
The tube circuit is quite good, adding noticeable warmth to the sound. The built-in phantom power supply works well with condenser mics. The gain and volume controls are flexible and the output is reasonably strong for such a small unit. Both the input and output ports accept either the XLR and 1/4" plugs, with the latter taking precedence when both are connected. Other than the phantom power and 20db gain buttons, there are four more controlling impedance, filter, limiter and phase, giving this little unit complete functionality of a preamp. Overall, a great value.

I use this to record services at my church with a 6 channel Behringer mixer being fed by a DBX Compressor. I use 2 channels- one for the right and the other for the left. I really need the mixer to power this device as it can take more power to push than the soundcard on my laptop. I love this device. It really does offer a good sound. Just as a notable point, when the limiter is turned on, it can be overloaded without the lights on the front indicating that sound is being clipped. Also, the gain is not clean beyond 75%.

I use this preamp for home recording. For what I paid, it works fine - but to get decent levels I need to really crank the gain. Sounds okay though. Again, for the price, pretty good.

Comments about ART Tube MP Project Series - Microphone Preamplifier with USB:
Found this preamp to be simple to use. The instruction bulletin is easy to read. The improved sound from any microphone in my collection is better than most preamps on the mixing consoles I have. I use the ART with my Shure SH55 for saxophone work and with condensers for recording the spoke word. I also plug my acoustic / electric guitar into the ART preamp for stage work and have found a nice, not too fat, sweet spot that extends the sustain without exotic effects.

Comments about ART Tube MP Project Series - Microphone Preamplifier with USB:
I needed a preamp to fix sound quality issues while recording with line in mic and instruments in GarageBand. I read great reviews for this one and it has worked out excellent so far. The manual could use more detail for novices like me and it would be nice if there was an on/off button, but overall it's a trusty little friend. Took me some trial and error to figure out the settings, but it has upped my recording quality substantially and the price tag is a very reasonable investment. Mac OSX recognized it right away and GarageBand was more than happy to comply.
