I own 3 QB 1+ and 1 QB 9v and I think the quality is quite good. Their service department on the other hand is way over priced. Remember these are expendable products. They won't last forever no matter how you use them. So when it comes time to have them serviced it would be nice not to feel like your equipment is being held for ransom.

Comments about Quantum Instruments QB1 + (6V) Battery:
I shoot weddings all afternoon and evening and to not have to replace AA batteries every 30 minutes is fantastic!

Comments about Quantum Instruments QB1 + (6V) Battery:
I use this product to power the flash attachment for my camera. It holds a charge for a great length of time.... not certain how many, but enough that I can shoot a wedding and reception with it. Lightweight, doesn't take up much area in the camera bag. This is the third QB1 I've owned over the years as they do tend to expire... I've been very please with each.

Comments about Quantum Instruments QB1 + (6V) Battery:
I typically avoid flash photography like the plague, but when you must, missing a shot while your flash recycles is completely unacceptable. This power supply solves that problem.

I purchased this battery to speed up my down time between photos. I went from a 10-12 sec delay with AAA batteries to a 1-2 second delay. I could not be happier!

This is my second Battery and I'll buy another. This is a great product for my type of shooting (small weddings, locational Seniors, etc...) Good recyle rate, not the fastest but...

Comments about Quantum Instruments QB1 + (6V) Battery:
I put this off for awhile, but now that I have it I'm glad.
- Faster recycling, from 4-6secs down to 2-3 secs and that makes a big difference when working with your subject.
- I put two Vivitar 285HVs on this unit, mounted high and low on a light stand, w/33" umbrellas and it makes a great full-figure model light.
- I recommend two of these, instead of the turbo, so you have a backup. If you buy the larger turbo and it goes out, you have nothing; this is unacceptable at a wedding or event.
- Last note, the newer MB style connectors, which replace the 4-AA batteries, it locks well and does not move. Yes, the battery door does not close, but the main thing is that it locks and does not move, I don't mind the battery compartment does not look pretty, nobody cares.

Comments about Quantum Instruments QB1 + (6V) Battery:
Using a Quantum Battery 1+, I shot 400+ photos in a dark Masonic Lodge. Battery worked like a champ. Only problem was recycle time between shots. Not sure if it was the flash or the battery causing the delay. Flash head did get warm, so I believe I was over taxing the flash. I still strongly recommend this product. If you are looking at doing similar session, I'd recommend the Turbo model.[...]

Comments about Quantum Instruments QB1 + (6V) Battery:
I use the Quantum Battery 1 plus with my Nikon SB-600 flash. I bought this one as an upgrade from the Quantium QB1 compact. The flash usage is about twice as long and it is useful for those multi-hour conventions/shows.
Of course, if you buy this, remember to buy the connector cable to your flash since it is separate.

Comments about Quantum Instruments QB1 + (6V) Battery:
I photograph weddings and needed a battery pack that would last about 6-8 hours without worry. Someone recommended this battery to me and said it would last all day. I've photographed two weddings with it in the last two weeks, and both times, the battery has completely drained after about 3 1/2-4 hours of use. The first wedding I photographed getting ready and formals for three hours, then looked down to see that it was at the 50% charged mark. I was surprised that I had gone through that much juice so fast, but figured I had at least another 3 hours left on the battery. 20 minutes later the ceremony starts and the battery went from 50% charge to 0 charge instantly and just as the bride was walking down the aisle. Bad.
Second wedding, after 3 hours of getting ready and formals, I looked down and the battery was at the 50% charge again, so instead of risking the same result as above, I took off the battery, and used my Canon external battery pack instead (which is half the cost of the Quantum), and shot without fail the ceremony and reception. Wish I hadn't spent the money on this battery. It does not stayed charged as long as I need a battery to last. It would be fine for portrait and engagement sessions, though.

Comments about Quantum Instruments QB1 + (6V) Battery:
This battery will no doubt make your life easier...until the short battery life has you looking for your backup. Granted, it does last longer than the normal batteries required for your flash. This product is definitely user friendly, not too heavy, and compact. Just make sure you bring a spare! Lasts roughly 5/6 hrs of avid shooting, so not so great if you're in the middle of a wedding but perfect for engagement or shorter shoots.

I have two of these packs and have used them at events and weddings. These packs are a tad hefty on the belt, but have been very reliable. I got two so I would have a backup available, but so far one has seen me through each time.

Have become way tooo expensive. Bought 2 new ones a while back and one has a hard time holding a charge and the other still isn't as solid as one I've had for 10 years...
The quality of the new ones is very dissapointing especially for such an increase in cost.

Unless you want to cut a whole in your flash I would not buy this flash. I just replaced my old flash with a brand new flash and there is no way am going to cut a whole in it. For it to work you have to.

How you use the product? In a wedding.Shoot 500 frames not all with the flash but most. Never let me down.
Things that are great about it? That it had lsting power. Not to bulky.
Things that aren't so great about it. The cord gets in the way.

Comments about Quantum Instruments QB1 + (6V) Battery:
Although this product has tripled in price over the years, I still use and recommend the Quantum Battery 1 (or 1 Plus).
I've used the Quantums as an active photojournalist for twenty years to power everything from old Vivitar 283’s to modern dedicated Canon strobes, also to power slaved units. I’ve used them in the rain and cold, spot news and regular assignments, usually clipped to my belt.
Cons: The cord is problematic; avoid stretching or twisting it around too much. Also, you will need to replace this unit after a few years, and it is possible to "cook" a Quantum by shooting full power shots for too long (keep and eye on the indicator lights--don't keep shooting when they all turn black). I've had 50% luck having my local Batteries Plus store replacing old Quantum batteries, though 50% of the time the unit is ruined. Still, they are worth a shot as opposed to coughing up another $200 plus.
