Just before mine bulged, the battery life was 2 hours max. Now, with the new one, I'm back to 4-6 hours (depending on what I'm doing...and I'm doing a lot!...Cinema4D, Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, design everything, I do it...and now, for longer.
Great battery, get one!

I would not buy it any more, but my Macbook need the battery.

The battery is definitely an OEM product, not a less expensive knock off. Fits perfectly, functions like new. Avoided buying some compatible wannabes as the run times were reported as less than the OEM item even though the item was less expensive.

My original MacBook Pro battery provided more than 5 years of continuous, reliable service, so naturally I was dismayed when it finally succumbed to bulging battery syndrome. I spent the better part of two days researching replacement batteries. Without exception, they all had a mix of glowing praise and horror stories; however, ALL of the favorable reviews were posted soon after purchase. None of them reported the performance of the batteries even as long as 1 year after purchase.
For me, the Apple battery is a known quantity. I can't argue with 5+ years of great performance. If I get the same service out of another Apple battery, it will have been well worth the cost of not buying an el cheapo that dies after a year or two...or less.

When the battery nears it's life's end (3 years), it swelled up and broke open. Potentially exposing hazardous materials (mercury) inside. Apple refused to replace the battery despite a history of battery recalls which I was never informed of. I am very disappoint by Apple's posture on this matter. If it weren't for the pluses in their other products and software I would not continue to patronize the company.

Operates fine, BUT it is subject to power surges. One fluctuation and the battery could be rendered useless. I use my MacBookPro with a power cord most frequently on European trains, where my previous battery collapsed during a surge. Right now, the only protection is to have a spare battery handy. Or, if possible, remove the battery prior to plugging into the power source. But make sure to place the MBP on a CLEAN flat surface.
