When daylight dims and shadows deepen, the X Factor of the Vortex Viper 10x42 binocular goes to work for you. Rivaling higher-priced European binoculars, XD glass, XR coatings, and phase-corrected prisms deliver extra-high resolution and increased light transmittance- rendering brighter views than one would expect from binoculars in this class.
Vortex knows there will be times when it's just plain hard to keep a handle on things ... that's why the Vipers feature XP engineering. This design anchors the prisms in place, in spite of rough handling, for years of exceptional viewing. Let it rain. Let it snow. Let the wind blow up a dust storm. Nothing gets past the Viper- these binoculars are absolutely dust proof, fog proof, and waterproof.

Comments about Vortex Viper 10x42 Binocular:
I bought the 10x42 Vortex Viper binoculars after extensive review of other competitors and user comments. Key attributes for me were, in descending order, optics, waterproof, durability, price, size and weight. They'll be used in the field on trips for viewing wildlife and at home for birding, and on a sailboat. In addition to the quality and brilliance of the optics, and having all the above attributes, the binoculars have several convenience features. The lens caps are robust and tethered to the binoculars, the diopter adjustment locks and the eyecups twist-out rather than bend-out. Overall, a very nice piece of equipment with no negatives.

Comments about Vortex Viper 10x42 Binocular:
My goal was to find a high quality binocular at a reasonable price. Mission accomplished. I have several employees who use binoculars on a daily basis for their job. In the past I have bought them Pentax DCF HRII and Nikon Monarchs and with constant use and wear and tear the eyecup threads would strip (both brands) and the lens covers would crack and break off (Nikons). I finally decided to spend a little extra ($500 range) in hopes of getting a better built product. I researched these binoculars extensively and they have more than exceeded my expectations. The employees love them and I know that I got a high quality product without having to spend [$]

Comments about Vortex Viper 10x42 Binocular:
These binoculars replace an older set of Steiner 8x30 that I have had for several years. I use them for birding and when out photographing wildlife. They are very lightweight and the supplied neck strap is fantastic. The view is clear, bright and they are simply a joy to use. Highly recommended!

Comments about Vortex Viper 10x42 Binocular:
I am not an experienced bino user, as these are the first pair of (quality glass) binos that I've owned. With that said, I am not in any way dissapointed with these binos. I did exstensive research prior to selecting these, and I can honestly say that for the money they are exceptional. Clarity is outstanding. Color is just as good. Weight and build are equally superb.
