Sony's SLV-ED949 Multisystem VCR is an entry-level VCR that plays and records in NTSC and PAL video. It features automatic setup, which programs channels and sets the on-screen language automatically. Easy Timer helps you record as many as 8 shows per week with a few twists of a knob. You can give your own names to as many as 80 channels. Auto Tape Speed ensures that your program will always fit on the tape by recording the end of a program at a slower speed.
This deck records and plays in NTSC for North America, and in PAL for most of Europe.
The VCR automatically programs your channels and on-screen menu language.

Auto Tape Speed
If a program won't fit on the tape at SP speed, the VCR will automatically change to the slower LP speed (EP on an NSTC recording) to accommodate it.
