Handles life in a Soccer staduim press box with rough handling, temperature extremes and less techie users very well. Reads most disks quickly. Seems to ignore many scratches. Good value.

We use this unit on our worship center and love it. The large cue and play buttons are a great help when the operators are in a hurry to get something started. Very nice product!

Comments about Numark MP102 Rack Mountable Single CD Player with CD and MP3 CD Support:
When I recently upgraded my two channel music system I chose this Numark 102 player for several reasons.
1. Numark claims, and based on the way it sounds, I believe, it provides exceedingly low distortion.
2. The price is modest.
3. It provides a pitch/tempo control as a bonus.
I use this player mainly to listen to CDs and MPGs of music. The length of even a CD recording is more than I usually need, so a multi-disk player would be a waste and more likely to fail.
I am impressed by the inclusion of a pitch/tempo control. As a ballroom dancer I often want to slow down or speed up the tempo of dance music. Players with a tempo control are usually very expensive but this one is not. I am suggesting this unit to the dance studios I am in contact with so they can use this low cost feature too.
The first improvement I would suggest is to include a program option to stop the playback after the last track has finished. Default mode is to repeat all tracks again from the beginning. When playing classical music I am unfamiliar with, I may not detect that it playing the beginning all over again. A minor nit for an otherwise exc3ellent unit.
My second suggestion is to add an option for a case without the rack mount feature for home use. I will add some walnut wood pieces at each side to make it look more like audiophile equipment.

Comments about Numark MP102 Rack Mountable Single CD Player with CD and MP3 CD Support:
I just wanted a rackmount CD Player for my home recording system, and the MP102 is fine for that.
One thing, and please hold off on the hoots of derision, the XLR outputs from the player are line level, not mic level. So if your mixer has 1/4" phone jack inputs for line level inputs (like mine), you'll need two TRS balanced line female XLR to male 1/4" cables (about $10 apiece). Don't make the mistake I did of using XLR-XLR cables to plug these line level outputs into your mic level inputs on your mixer (typically XLR inputs). The line level signal coming into your mixer channel will be way too hot for the mic preamps on that channel.
