I love this new GT-2500 scanner. I primarily use it for scanning documents (medical journal articles for my clinical research), and it does this easily and quickly, even at higher resolutions (e.g. 800 dpi). I can select from a range of output formats, which is convenient if I want to manipulate images and text. It scans photos nicely too. The document feeder rarely jams, unless I am careless about removing staples or I get greedy about how many pages I stuff into the document feeder (I have managed to get as many as 79 pages into the 50-page ADF, but I DON'T recommend this.) The EpsonScan software works great on my Mac.
Overall, I like this scanner so much that I am going to get a second one for the office.

Functioned great out of the box. Speedy when doing B&W, but the stats are incorrect on color. When scanning color documents - the actual scan time at 300 ppi, outputting to a PDF, at 24 bit color, is 45 seconds per page (not the 11 ppm reported in their specs). This is less than 1 ppm. [...] The sharpness of the scans is not up to the competitors either. Look elsewhere for a scanner.

Comments about Epson GT-2500 Scanner:
This is my first Epson scanner. I changed because my old scanner continually had multiple feed problems and the non-replaceable lamp was causing defects in the final scan. I spent more time babysitting than scanning.
I use this scanner daily to create and append pdf's in my office. This machine just does what I tell it to do as long as I select the installed Epson software to manage the scan.
When using this scanner to create pdf documents be sure to select Custom Scan/ in Acrobat and then in the Scanner Options select "Native Mode" and "Show Scanner's Native Interface" which will bring up Epson's "Epson Scan" software. Here you can determine Color/Grascale/BW, orientation, resolution, and whether you want the flatbed or Single/Double ADF. If you use the default Acrobat scan it will be dog slow but Epson Scan just does what you want and fast.
I am very pleased and as long as Epson keeps up the quality they have a customer for life.

I have owned several Epson scanners in the past. They have all been easy to use and give good quality scans. The 2500 is no different. Easy to use and setup.

Comments about Epson GT-2500 Scanner:
I primarily use this product for scanning my old file cabinet contents to PDFs (both 1-sided and 2-sided), and scanning old photos. This scanner is very good for both tasks.
For 2-sided documents, the feeder supports 2-sided operation. It's fairly fast, especially in 1-sided mode. For 2-sided documents, it'll do the top side, then pull the document back in and do the other side. This can cause occasional jams if there's a large stack in the output tray. If you keep the stack small, it does better. Overall I only had a couple problems with jams, and when it does jam, you don't lose the whole job -- you can save what's already been successfully scanned.
For photos, you'll typically scan from the glass. There is no adapter for negatives, although I haven't tried scanning those directly from the glass.
The software is mostly good but has a few quirks and shortcomings. When placing multiple photos on the glass, you must manually highlight each photo then click 'All' before clicking 'Scan' if you want each one saved to its own file. My old HP scanner would automatically detect them and do it automatically. Still, it's not too bad once you figure it out (it took me a while).
The quality of photos is quite good, and you can make some adjustments. Some other adjustments are missing, like automatic straightening.
One other very nice feature: you can remove 2 screws and take the whole top cover/feeder off completely. This is great for scanning wedding albums or photo albums.
Overall, the quality and feature set is very good, and I've been happy with the purchase. The few shortcomings it has are minor and I can live with them or work around them.

Comments about Epson GT-2500 Scanner:
I use it to scan tests that are graded by Revic software.I also use it to scan text/graphics for import into Word or direct printing. It has not jammed, even reading in duplex mode.Duplex reading is not done in parallel; the scanner has to turn over the page (automatically) and read the other side.Connection via Windows 7 was seamless. The price was right [...]The Epson software, although easy to use, does not include as many functions as HP scanner software I have used.

Comments about Epson GT-2500 Scanner:
I was looking for a scanner with an Automatic Document Feeder to help me scan photos for my wife's memorial. I happened across a review on line that said the GT-2500 does a good job on photos. Personnel at the store thought I would have trouble with photos sticking together, but I took a chance. As I remembered all the trouble we had at work with plotters and printers on hot, high humidity days, I simply cranked up the A/C in my townhouse. The GT-2500 works like a champ. I'm able to feed 24 photos at a time with no problem.
