Featuring Schmidt-Cassegrain optics, the Celestron NexStar 6 SE is an ideal telescope for observing and photographing celestial subjects. With a weight of just 30 lb (13.6 kg) including the tripod, the portable 5 SE features a precision optical system with 1250 mm focal length at ƒ10.0, and provides 44% more light gathering than a 5" telescope.

StarBright XLT high transmission coatings for sharp, high contrast views with accurate color
SkyAlign allows alignment on any three bright celestial objects, making for a rapid, efficient alignment process. It then functions as a 'go-to' system accepting commands through the handset and pointing the optical assembly toward any one of nearly 40,000 objects stored in its database. Using the (optional) CN-16 (93963) GPS accessory connection and an external GPS (not included), alignment is entirely automatic.
NexRemote telescope control software and RS-232 cable included for advanced control of the telescope with a PC
StarPointer finderscope helps with alignment and locating objects

Comments about Celestron NexStar 6 SE 6.0"/150mm Catadioptric Telescope Kit:

Seemed like a great value w/in my budget. Most problems I've had so far are due to lack of experience on my part or bad weather conditions. Accurately finds/tracks objects once it is calibrated, and has given me great views of Jupiter, which has been easily visible. Heavy duty tripod, doesn't seem to budge. There is a bit of a learning curve on setting up the controls, but again, with practice I should get better. Would love a electronic focus, as I'm just not that steady, but views have been great when the sky is clear.

This was a gift for my wife.[...]The telescope is very bright we had limited clear sky but already saw the moon really close. Stars are easy to point have not managed to get the go to work but reading the documentation I found the issue (the timezone we are in officially is not inline with the one expected by the scope.Documentation could be more detailed.I also tested it as a super-tele on my full-frame camera.I am not completely happy with that setting there are some issues around the edges but when you get a shot even close to sunset is still very bright for a 1,5000mm tele F10. Manual focusing takes some work and the T-adapter is the real issue for me. It dropped my camera to the floor(thank good in the grass not rocks)

The packaging and set up was simple and fast and we were able to get the telescope ready for use immediately.

The tracking software is a little difficult to use and my son had problems setting up himself.

Otherwise its easy to use and a pleasure for an amateur family enjoying the star together.

have used this product over several nights now on Gold Coast Australia where backgound lighting is not as severe as in metro areas, easy to read and apply instructions, got it up and running first try, took advice of earlier reviewers and bought power adaptor so no battery problems, pick three objects and away you go with all possible items in sky listed, great viewing lately of venus and jupiter with moons, highly recommend to all though I am just an intermediate user[...]

I use my scope for both terrestrial and astronomy. The images I have seen with limited use due to smoke in the atmosphere are sharp and clear. setup is easy and aligning the scope a breeze. I did have some trouble connecting to my laptop as it runs Win 7 so I switched to an old Toshiba Satellite running XP and it worked fine.

Comments about Celestron NexStar 6 SE 6.0"/150mm Catadioptric Telescope Kit:

I wanted a telescope that I could move around easy for a class that I am teaching. This one has good clarity and an intermediate eye piece. You will probably want a short and long focal length eye piece to go with it so you can see a better range of objects. I was able to pick out the Sombrero and Andromeda galaxies FAINTLY along with a few other Messier objects. The finder scope takes a little getting used to. I set it up once, have taken it on and off and it is still accurate. I was surprised about that to say the least. I find that you have to keep both eyes open when you use it so you can still see the object, otherwise it will be obscured by the red dot. Very easy to setup and the AA batteries have lasted about 6 hours with out too much trouble. That being said the slew rate is quite slow on battery power. I will probably consider getting the GPS and AC adapter at some point to make it easier to use. Remember not to manually rotate the telescope once you have aligned. You actually can only change Alt by hand and are forced to slew on battery power for Az changes and if you manually change your Alt after aligning you have to start over.

So far it's great. However, the telescope doesn't really work with batteries. You really need a power supply.
