These devices are a wonderful idea and they work wonderfully...as long as they last. My second one lasted less than a month, the first, two weeks. The problem is the delicacy of the springs which hold the side pieces open. They are very tiny and prone to pop out of place. This pretty well ends the convenience, as the side panels will not stay open.Bummer. The problems others mention about eyeglass problems did not occur for me...that was never a problem.

Expertise: Pro video/cinematographer. 50+ years as still photographer.

Problems Encountered: flip-up side panels far too fragile, springs too delicate and prone to pop out of place. practically impossible to maneuver springs back after they bail out. Too fragile for field use without being overly gentle, which is not always possible.Love the item.. wish it was not so prone to self-distruct.

I used these pop-up screens on my D70 and wanted one when I upgraded to a D200. Unfortunately, the design is such that on the D200 the edge of the protector sticks up higher than on the D70. The result for eye-glass wearers is that while your LCD will be protected, your eye-glasses will be quickly scratched from bumping the corners of the screen. I miss the advantages this product provided on my D70, but I've already paid once to have a new left lens put in my glasses. I've learned my lesson.

Problems Encountered: Raised edges will scratch eye-glasses during normal use.
