Comments about Smith-Victor Two Light Fluorescent Kit with 28" Light Tent (120VAC):
Excellent value. This is a good kit for amateur use. Been using for macro photography. The lights are very bright and do not get hot - so you can take your time getting the right shot. Easy to adjust, the light stands are a bit lightweight, but are stable.
Color of the fluorescents is fine, a touch blue, but very easily corrected either in camera on on the computer.
The light heads do not attach to the stands as securely as I'd like - but for the price I am more than satisfied and would strongly recommend for the beginning / mid level amateur.
Light tent is adequate and does flatten for storage. 16" reflectors are very big when you are looking for storage space!

Comments about Smith-Victor Two Light Fluorescent Kit with 28" Light Tent (120VAC):
Use: Indoor photography of medium to small products for reproduction in print and web.
Great qualities: NICE AND BRIGHT: I finally have enough light in my photos to NO LONGER have to lighten them in photoshop, resulting in noise. Also - it's a nice balanced light, not too red or yellow or blue.
NO MORE BACKGROUND INTRUSIONS: The tent really is a great idea to eliminate any ugly background issues.
LOVE THE ZIPPER: Reflective images no longer cast a mirror image of my camera and tripod.
NO MORE HARD SHADOWS: It really does give great soft light to my products.
Not so great qualities: The table shown in the product image (holding up the tent) is not included. I knew this before purchasing, and had to use one of my fairly wide end tables.

Comments about Smith-Victor Two Light Fluorescent Kit with 28" Light Tent (120VAC):
I ordered this to do product photography and I am very happy with the kit. I deliberately chose fluorescents to avoid heat issues and fire danger - and of course they run totally cool. The lamp heads are larger than I expected - but that's worked out well as the heads throw a lot of light over a large area. The tent size has also worked out very well since I use foam board as a background. It tends to be a little cleaner than fabric and doesn't wrinkle. The lights are very bright, and I have no complaints. The tent collapses down very small which makes for easy storage, and is easy to set up. The fluorescents do a pretty good job of balancing the light, though I do sometimes use a blue filter in post processing. I even used the lights to do a head shot for a web site, and found they worked very nicely for that as well. The light stands extend quite tall, and are easy to use. I found the kit worth the price.

Comments about Smith-Victor Two Light Fluorescent Kit with 28" Light Tent (120VAC):
I bought this product mainly for my Jewelry business. I use this light kit with my Nikon D40X produce pretty good result in few days of adjustments. [...] This light is good for small item products and bad for large items. The light source is not strong enough.
