I have been using the extreme III's for a while and I am glad I finally picked up a few extreme 4's. The first difference I noticed was the jump in amount of frames that the buffer would hold. I generally shoot a 1Ds Mark II with raw files. On the extreme 3 series cards, my buffer would be only 8 deep, with the extreme 4 cards the buffer goes to 11. I can also notice the time to clear the buffer is somewhere between 30-50% faster. If you are shooting high megapixel cameras this is the card for you, with the rebate it is a great deal. If you shoot cameras with ~8 Mp or less you probably get away with the extreme 3 series cards.

Hard to see the value

I purchased this as it was supposed to offer a speed improvement over the Extreme 16G III with a Nikon D300. I don't see any improvement, and it's not yet available in 16G either. So there's nothing wrong with it, but there's nothing especially right with it either.

Pro sports photographer. SanDisk Extreme 4 cards are very reliable not 1 problem in past 5 years. Don't try to save $10 or $20 with a unreliable knock-off brand. Works well with my Canon Mark 3 camera very fast shooting and downloading.

I use 8 GB or 16 GB cards on my 30D and 7D. For action shots such as car or motorcycle races, airshows...it makes difference in taking rapid shots. Just make sure your camera supports the UDMA feature.
