The Sigma Macro 70mm f/2.8 EX DG Lens is a medium telephoto macro lens which is ideal for both digital and 35mm film SLR cameras. The 70mm focal length gives an equivalent field of view to the popular 105mm macro lens when used on digital SLR cameras with an APS-C size image sensor.
The design of this lens makes it suitable for taking pictures in all situations, from infinity to 1:1 macro, both with natural light conditions or flash.

Comments about 70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro Autofocus Lens for Sigma SLR Camera:
This lens is the only one from Sigma that I can rate it 5 stars. Not very fast focus, but it's a true macro and extremely sharp.

Comments about 70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro Autofocus Lens for Sigma SLR Camera:
I bought this lens to use with nature and landscape photography. I shot under a variety of conditions and found it to perform exptremely well for both distance and macro work. It actually exceeds the claimed 1:1 magnification. It is tack sharp, contrasty and the out of focus rendering is very pleasing. Phenomenally low distortion make this a great performer for copy work or record shots such as for museum objects. One disadvantage is degree of extention of the barrel when focused on the very closest objects.
