I bought this to do primarily two things: Capture birds at a bird feeder, and self-portraits. I'll probably come up with some other uses later! ;-)
What's great: It works. Every time. I saw that another reviewer said they had trouble with the transmitter button, but I haven't had any problems with mine. The transmitter button works exactly like the shutter button on my Canon 40D: Press partway for focus/metering, press all the way to snap. The light on both the transmitter turn green on half-press, red on full-press.
The two components are small and lightweight. I keep them in an old P&S drawstring sack in my bag, and aren't bothersome to haul around.
Not so great, two things (I subtracted 1 star for this):
1. For the price, the build quality is okay to good, except that the transmitter's antenna (a telescoping aerial) seems a little flimsy, and rattles when extended. It would probably bend or break if you hit it against anything. At the range I have used it so far, about 20-30 feet (6-10 meters) through a glass door and windows that had metallic tinting, it was quite reliable with the antenna in the collapsed position. Haven't tried it yet at longer distances.
2. Not really a reliability issue, but the DIP switches look very 1980's tech. They are very reliable, though. I suppose the settings could be accidently changed in rough handling, but this hasn't been an issue for me.

Dot-line Remote Release for Canon EOS 5d -10D -20D - 30DThe remote release unlike the reviewer stated does work-- it works better in some modes than some of the other modes-- it has a lot to do with your camera settings. The instructions must be read , not to worry the instructions are weak short and not helpful for camera settings but what's there is important.First thing I found out was that you can't use the buttons with the remote plugged in except the light. You have no auto review , no jump or any of the buttons on the back or top except the light.(no chimping) .You can use the dials very limited without the buttons. So set your camera up including focus , before you plug in the remote.Best setting is all focus points AL Servo AF and not on spot , since your camera will be on a tripod or at least self supporting , Av and a large F stop , if you are trying to use it on birds or moving subjects Tv and a high ISO , Drive Mode should be on regular multi shot or single shot , not the one with the H , on Multi shot it will take two shots before you can take your finger off the button on H it fires like 5 or more. Mirror flip up does not work , Bulb does not work. Auto sleep mode does not happen , when the remote is plugged in , your camera is on and ready. The remote has a four channel code four switch's in two positions , that's a lot of combinations 64 I think , maybe a Pro would have a use for it .When you turn the receiver on , by holding the button down for a couple of seconds ,a red light starts to flash once every second , when you push the button half way down on the remote the receiver light turns green this is supposed to focus the camera , pushing the button all the way down trips the shutter.I suggest you have the camera pre-focused if possible , the light on the receiver is small and hard to see , in the daytime in the bright Sun its invisible , especially if your are at the end of its range 100' I haven't tested it at that distance but I got far enough away from My bird feeders the birds paid me no mind , 50' 60' and inside My house.I like the remote I like the results when I used it for Hummingbirds and moon shots.Rodger (CA)

Upgraded from a 350D to a 50D. The 350D had an infrared remote and you had to be in front of the camera to use it. I love this radio remote as it gives me freedom of movement and long range to boot!

Comments about RPS Lighting RS-RT04/C3 Wireless RF Remote Release:
Easy to use. I use a tripod and take macrofoto. I use it on Canon 5D and 7D. The remote control is easier than pressing the shutter on the camera.
There is no bracket for attaching the receiver to overcame the moraine. hangs in the connection cord..

Comments about RPS Lighting RS-RT04/C3 Wireless RF Remote Release:
Worked great out the box. It does NOT have the 2 second delay that many of the remotes have. Great for use with photographing children and for use in self portraits. Remote hid easily in my hand. I rated in only 4 stars as I don't like the way it dangles from the side of my camera but overall, it's a good product. Would recommend to others.

Comments about RPS Lighting RS-RT04/C3 Wireless RF Remote Release:
i haven't had tons of experience with it yet but grabbed it straight out of the box and used it immediately for about 3 hours straight without a hitch. granted, the longest distance was about 8 feet away but it works like a charm. feels a little fragile so i took some gaffers tape and tapped a few napkins around the bottom half of the remote to pad it a bit in case i dropped it (which did happen a few times) and that seemed to help protect it some and also kept me from accidentally switching channels.
seemed to work fine whether the antenna was up or down.
i feel way more comfortable with this than with the cord.

Comments about RPS Lighting RS-RT04/C3 Wireless RF Remote Release:
I bought this remote for my 40D and I've been happy with it so far. It's the first wireless remote that I've purchased and it is actually easier to use than the wired remote I am used to using at work. I haven't had the opportunity to try it from long distances. I took another reviewer's suggestion to wire tie the receiver to the camera strap hook so it doesn't dangle (if I was to make a suggestion for improvement, the receiver design would be it.) In my opinion, the remote is definitely worth the price.

Comments about RPS Lighting RS-RT04/C3 Wireless RF Remote Release:
Does exactly what I expected and wanted it to do with my Canon 50D. The plastic bodies of the receiver and transmitter are a bit flimsy and could be made a little stronger. You have to be careful where/how you put it in your bag. Other than that it works great. Works just like the shutter button on the camera.

I have been searching for a wireless remote for my Canon 30D, I cames across this product and read the reviews so I went up to B&H today and picked it up. Works right out of the box no problem. Just kind in mind your going to need a couple of AAA batt's when you buy it but for the price its great!!I gave it 5 stars because it works right out of the box with no issues, I started shooting self shots with it right away. And it has an on & off switch, I worked with a bulb setting with no issues, the instructions are simple and easy. I am also getting ready to buy the Canon 7D with this supports as well..

I chose this remote release from several available at a reasonable price. So far, it has worked exactly as described. I haven't tested the range, but it is sufficient for my usage. The little instruction pamphlet could use an update though.

This is really easy to use, just plug in when the camera is off, turn everything on and it's ready. Works on newer and older Canon models (7D and 40D are the ones I've tried). Good range for my purposes (about 10') and the signal still works when behind my back or covered up.
Only weird thing: the package said it included 2 AAA batteries but they weren't there. It did include the other battery though.

Comments about RPS Lighting RS-RT04/C3 Wireless RF Remote Release:
I use this product for most of my tripod shots particularly with my longer lenses that are easily shaken when the shutter is pressed.
The device is quite small and works from anywhere around the camera within range, not just in front of the camera as some others do.
It worked perfectly right out of the package. There are no negatives with this product.

Simple to use. Works great. I found the remote very useful for weddings and portraits. A must have for MACRO photogs.
I don't like the way the receiver dangles off the side of the camera body. To bad they didn't offer the receiver and jack as one unit without the short cord.

I use the product to photograph flowers primarily. The remote release and a tripod, what more could you ask for? I don't have to recheck my view-finder prior to taking my shot.
Love it.
