plenty of light up to about 10 feet away. I use this for making commercials where I only have about 1 hour to interview, shoot b-roll and get out. This light is perfect for handling the unexpected dark environmnet. Dimmer is a great feature as well as the barn doors and the temperature filter.

Comments about VariZoom S-2010S Dimmable On Camera Light:
I have had this light for over a year and it has been awesome. It has great light output. It uses the same batteries as my PD-170 and now my Z5U. I use a NP-970 battery and after a solid 3 or more hours, requires very little charging. You can get away with a smaller lighter battery for sure. It's also dimmable which is a necessity.
At first it seemed like it may be a little flimsy but it definitley has stood the test of time and beatings.
