David Hobby of [@] recommends this swatchbook as an inexpensive way to gel your strobes. I use the CTO and Window Green to correct the color of my Nikon SB600/800 flashes. The small swatches just fit on the top of the flash head, but you need to find a way to attach them. You need to be a bit careful with the gel swatches; they do bend and crease easily in the camera bag, but hey, the swatchbook cost a penny, and once I'm happy with a gel, I buy a sheet and make my own. Plus there are more colors to experiment with in the pack. The swatchbook is a great way to get started with flash gels.

Comments about Rosco Cinegel Swatchbook:
When I was in high school oh so many years ago, lighing companies used to give these out, although you needed to walk into the store so they knew you. In several decades things haven't changed, and thats a good thing. This is the same filter material in the large sheets so you can know what you are ordering. Unlike high school, I now use these on my camera flashes where they work wonderfully. The only downside is they have the hold punched in them for the book and the sheets aren't directly labeled (its filter/paper label/filter/paper label). But....these are a great price!

Cannot beat the price with the quality/quantity. If you use off camera flash this is a must for bringing out the artist in you. Can simulate sunshine over someones shoulder or you can add a splash of color to a wall behind a subject. The possibility's are endless, and its so inexpensive their is no excuse not to have it.

Comments about Rosco Cinegel Swatchbook:
The swatchbook comes with many color gels and therefore is a must have for me who wants a near-perfect white balance for indoor flash photography. I'm glad that I bought this book because I definitely would have bought the wrong color gels if I bought them individually. Though the book has a lot of gels, it won't take you too much time to get the right one for your indoor lightning because they are carefully grouped.
Once you know what gels you want, you might want to buy the gels individually or in smaller sets and with a holder

For an introduction to using gels, this is the way to go. The thing is huge and comes with more colors, options than I will likely use, but it is nice to have options.

Comments about Rosco Cinegel Swatchbook:
One of those bargains you don't find often. You get a ton of gels for experimenting with for your flash. I have a Canon Speedlight 580EX II that I use. I just pick a gel(sample), place it over the lens and flip the diffuser over the gel to hold it in place. Simple as that! If you don't want to use the diffuser, you can stretch a 3 inch X 1/2 inch rubber band along the perimeter of the flash flush with the lens and just bend one edge of the gel all the way over (180 degrees) so when held by the rubber band, it stays snug along the lens face. No need to spend $30-$50 for velcro or gel holders.

I'm using this swatch book as gels to put over a Nikon SB-600. The first 3/4 of the book the gels are not strong enough for rich colors, but the last quarter work perfect!
It is slightly flimsy construction, but does the job well.

These little swatches are just large enough to fit a 580EX II. I use a bit of gaff tape to attach them to my flashes. They work great!

They fit my SB600 speedlight just fine. Every possible color you could ever want including CTO, CTB, CTG, etc...
They are too small for my Vivitar 285 HV's but B&H has a gel pack that is great or those.

They put an amazing variety of gels in this sample pack, including reflective materials, scrims, and spun glass.
The samples fit perfectly over a SB-700 head, attached with a little tape.

Comments about Rosco Cinegel Swatchbook:
I got this to put the filters over the front of my on camera (SB-800) flash... This is recommended in various books, but is not a good idea in my opinion. Spend the money and get some real filters. These are paper thin and good for only very limited use. They feel flimsy and ready to melt. I like the idea of a bunch of filters, but next time I'll spend the money and get a set of 12 real filters for about $24.
