Comments about D-Link 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure for SATA Drives:
I am really glad with this purchase. The DNS-323 is consistently rated among the best in its class. The stock functionality is good... but using fun_plug brings out its true potential. The DNS-323 wiki provides ample information to customize this box according to your requirements. It also has a robust power management features that ensure your device runs cool, consumes less power and the hard drives last long.I have it setup with 2 Samsung green 1TB drives in RAID-1 and it works perfectly (note that there are several online reports about problems with WD 'EARS' drives. Do your research prior to purchasing these[...] At the time of this purchase, B&H had the best price.. I'm still waiting on the 40$ MIR from Dlink.

Comments about D-Link 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure for SATA Drives:
We use this product for media storage. I am able to share these files with people outside my network with the built in FTP server.
Works great! The only problem we've run into is the connection "time out" is a little too quick. We have worked around it by upping the amount of times our FTP client tries to connect.
Comments about D-Link 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure for SATA Drives:
I just got my DNS-323 (excellent quick service from B&H) with 2 500GB drives. Hooked it up and downloaded new firmware from D-Link. Spent three hours trying to get the Raid1 to work. Found on forums that D-Link has been saying for months that version 1.04 will be out soon with fixes for Raid1. (unit shipped with 1.01) Apparently some have got it to work, they use Linux hacks, if you are not comfortable with that then wait.Don't buy yet if you want reliable Raid1. Appears to work great as just two network drives - except apple filenames must be short.
Expertise: Know my way around PCs
Problems Encountered: Raid 1 is buggy.
