Comments about Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi Digital Camera Body (Black):
The only thing that matters is the pictures this camera can produce and it takes great pictures, if you know how to use it. So, unless you're a truly professional photographer (in the sense that your pictures need to be huge in order to use in different applications) then this camera is the perfect tool for great pictures, great colors, and great details.
Buy it.

Comments about Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi Digital Camera Body (Black):
I got my XTi during my visit to USA last April 2008. I've been using it for almost a year now and all I can say is I'm impressed. Compared to other models DSLR within it's price range, it's definitely the best. It's even better than the newer 1000D or the Nikon D60. If I were to buy another consumer SLR now, this would definitely be it. Buy it and you won't go wrong.

I use this camera for lots of things. Specifically I photograph airplanes, but it has many more purposes that make it such a great camera. I don't find anything bad about it!

Comments about Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi Digital Camera Body (Black):
This was my first DSLR, and I have felt no need to replace it as I transitioned from amateur to semi-pro. The camera is very well designed, with easy-to-use controls and intuitive placement of elements. It's also comfortable to hold. As a woman with small hands, I find the Rebel XTi's small size a huge advantage. The grip is well designed, and I've even been able to use it one-handed.
My only complaint is the noise. It's not so much that it's loud as that it's a weird electronic noise as opposed to the very satisfying clunk of some other cameras.

I fish alot and keep this camera in my boat with me. When combined with the 70-300mm is lens it is unreal. The quality of the pictures that I get of wildlife are the best. Easy to use and you never get a bad shot in auto. You can't go wrong for the price.

I like this camera a lot. It is my first DSLR and I've had it for almost a year but now I've decided to move on to a more professional body. Great thing about this camera is it is very user friendly, and can really teach you a lot about how to take good pictures without breaking your budget.

Comments about Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi Digital Camera Body (Black):
I do a lot of macro photography and landscape photography. I don't really do portraits, so I basically use the telephoto and wide angle ends of the spectrum.
In general, the camera performs the way I would expect an entry-level Canon DSLR to perform. Resolution is good, the images are recorded quickly with little lag time. Many of the best qualities of the camera, like the 'bulb' setting, which makes long exposure nighttime photography possible (I haven't seen this in other cameras) and ease of use can be found across the Canon line.
I particularly like the fact that I can use ISO 100-400 with almost no noise under most lighting conditions. That said, there's still a noticeable difference in grain between ISO 100 and 400. Also, the long exposure noise reduction is a must when taking long exposure shots at night. It doesn't work miracles, especially for ISO 1600 shots at night, but it definitely helps.
I had no use for most of the camera's photographic settings (landscape, portrait, etc.), especially since I shoot in raw, anyway.
The things that I don't like about the camera are:
1) The autofocus is sometimes slow, it also sometimes doesn't focus at all. I think this has to do with the autofocus point.
2) The shutter is very noisy.
3) There is no spot meter. The partial meter sometimes covers too large an area and a spot meter would be nice. Still, once I had used the camera a little more, I was able to figure out how to adjust on my own.
4) Using the manual mode, it is not very easy to adjust the aperture size

Comments about Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi Digital Camera Body (Black):
I bought this camera shortly before heading to the wild northern outback of Australia. It performed wonderfully, going a long way on a single battery charge, and taking fantastic photos. Its compatibility with the older Canon EOS accessories is part of the reason I bought it, as I use a longer lens that I bought with my old film SLR.
I used it in the desert, at the beach, at concerts and parties and on hikes in gorges. In all situations it performed great.
The only gripe I have with it is that it ended up getting a hair on the viewfinder pentaprism somehow (most probably blew in when I was swapping lenses), and when I tried to clean it I just made matters worse.
The body is smaller than the pro cameras, but still large and comfortable to use. It's probably too big to lug around as a snapshot camera, but perfect for its role as a digital SLR.

Happily upgraded from Canon 35mm Elan II - the Rebel XTi was very easy to use right out of the box. Takes all my lenses, which is a huge plus. Shoots nicely in auto modes, and allows me to add manual control as I learn. Pictures are beautiful. Very happy with it.
