The Canon PowerShot A710 IS Digital Camera combines innovative technology and superb design to transport your photography to an exciting level. The high-quality 6x optical zoom lens, and Canon's Image Stabilizer Technology will keep your images clear and sharp - even in low light, and the 7.1 megapixel resolution means that you'll get extremely detailed prints up to 16x20" that will look great - even after cropping. The Camera also features a real-image optical viewfinder, allowing fast framing and precise manual focusing without the LCD. There is even expanded low-light shooting ability using ISO speeds up to 800, and you'll be able to see it all on a large 2.5 inch LCD screen. In addition, the camera features an extensive range of creative shooting modes and is compatible with optional converter lenses for extended versatility.

7.1 Megapixel Resolution
7.1 megapixel resolution ensures the kind of detail that makes ordinary images extraordinary, and gives you the freedom to crop images and produce large prints that are true-to-life and filled with rich detail.
High-quality Canon 6x Optical Zoom Lens
With a 6x optical zoom, you're ready to capture a broad range of shots. Snapshots, landscapes and everything in between are rendered with the clear, bright quality of genuine Canon optics.
Image Stabilizer Technology for Steady Shooting
The Canon PowerShot A710 IS features Canon's exclusive Image Stabilizer Technology. Camera shake can cause blurring when shooting in low light and at long focal lengths, but the advanced Image Stabilizer uses digital technology to detect camera shake and signal precise lens shifts that effectively cancel it. This means the A710 IS will allow you to take excellent-quality images in many more situations - outdoors at dusk, inside without a flash, anytime when lighting conditions are not ideal.
2.5" LCD Screen
The PowerShot A710 IS features a big 2.5 inch LCD screen with 115,000 pixels of resolution, and features a selectable Grid Line Display to help with shot composition and a Night Display mode for easy visibility after dark. So whether you're setting up your shot or playing it back, everything is bright and clear
DIGIC II Image Processor with iSAPS Technology
Canon's DIGIC II Image Processor is designed to improve processing speed and image quality, so DIGIC II provides markedly faster startup, autofocus and playback, plus it assures that every image is more colorfully vibrant. iSAPS Technology is an entirely original scene-recognition technology developed for digital cameras by Canon. Using an internal database of thousands of different photos, iSAPS works with the fast DIGIC II Image Processor to improve focus speed and accuracy, as well as exposure and white balance.
Shoot and View Widescreen Images
The PowerShot A710 IS includes a 16:9 widescreen resolution option, producing images that are perfect for your widescreen TV or computer monitor.
Record VGA or Fast Frame Rate Movies with Sound
With a highly flexible movie mode, you can create the movie that's perfect for any application. Select from the Fast Frame Rate Movie Mode that allows you to record extremely smooth, full-motion movie clips for up to 1 minute long in QVGA at 60 fps (320 x 240 pixels), or the VGA (640 x 480 pixels) and QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) modes, with frame rates of 30 fps and 15 fps for recording up to 1 hour or 1GB (whichever comes first). Plus, the Compact Movie Mode (QQVGA; 160 x 120 pixels) records at 15 fps for up to 3 minutes.
Wide Range of Shooting Modes
Twenty Shooting Modes help deliver excellent results in almost any situation. Preset Special Scene modes assist with picture taking in tricky lighting conditions, including Indoor, Beach and Snow. For creative experimentation, Color Accent and Color Swap modes enable dramatic color effects to be applied to images and movies direct from the camera - you can keep one color and change the rest to black and white with Color Accent, or exchange one color for another with Color Swap. The cameras also feature My Colors photo effects for additional in-camera color customization.
Compact, Lightweight Body
The PowerShot A710 IS packs all its imaging power into a body so lightweight and compact, you'll take it everywhere. And for times when a camera is indispensable, you'll be glad you have one that doesn't weigh you down.
Convenient AA-size Batteries
AA-size batteries can be purchased at any store so you don't need to worry about running out of batteries or recharging batteries - simply get new ones locally.
USB 2.0 Interface
The PowerShot A710 IS supports the USB 2.0 (Hi-Speed) standard, so you'll enjoy the highest possible data transfer speeds when using a USB 2.0 compatible computer.
Easy, Flexible Direct Printing Options
The A710's Print/Share button makes direct printing easier than ever. Simply connect the camera to a Canon Direct Photo Printer or PictBridge supported printer, press the Print/Share button and print. The Direct Print feature allows for image preview and editing (including cropping) on the camera when connected to a compatible printer. Great Camera at a Very Good Price

By Tom

from New Hampshire

Comments about Canon PowerShot A710 IS Digital Camera:

I bought this camera and took one picture with it before I left on an 11 day vacation. I then took over 1000 pictures with it on that vacation. The image stabilization is very helpful, as I take pictures without a tripod and usually not in great light. Many of my pictures came out excellent in a wide variety of backdrops, including close detail, general views, and landscapes. It has several manual override options. The fit of the camera is absolutely perfect for my hands. Many of those 1000+ pictures were taken at the full 6x zoom. The lens is excellent at the 6x end as well as the 1x end and all in between. I have also recently taken some night photos with the shutter speed override, and they have come out very well with the maximum speed of 15 seconds. This is an excellent camera for a very good price. Simple enough for any beginner to use, but with good features that a more seasoned photographer will enjoy. Very nice looking camera too!I ordered mine from B&H, and I will buy any future photo purchases from them. I also bought a used A410 for a family member the next day. Both were well on time. B&H has great customer support and prices as good as you will find anywhere. I highly recommended B&H as well.Buy the soft case for the camera, it is a great investment to help protect the camera. I have used Impact's rechargeable batteries with it.

Problems Encountered: None.

A great choice in P/S digitals

By Odst2

from Boston, MA

Comments about Canon PowerShot A710 IS Digital Camera:

I took a long time narrowing it down to this camera and am very happy with it so far. Canon makes it VERY easy to use their cameras. Since I didn't want an ELPH-type, this was the next best category. I do a lot of traveling and biking, and this is perfectly portable. The fact that it uses AA batts is very convenient. Rayovac makes one that charges in 15min and is good for 1-2wks in the camera. The 6X zoom is the best, very sharp. Some of the shooting choices are too complicated so I would just leave it in P mode and click away, but there are a lot of manual options if you want them. You won't go wrong if you pick this particular model. It also happens to be a great looking camera.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Problems Encountered: None.
