Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard Scanjet 8300 Professional Image Scanner:
I haven't had the need tl use my new scanner as much as I expect to do so in the near future. On the occasions that I did use it, I have been pleased with the results. Although I haven't used many of the features of the scanner I am sure that I will be satisfied with it based om my experience with HP products.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard Scanjet 8300 Professional Image Scanner:
We bought this scanner for occasional scanning of large sheet drawings (scanned a section at a time and pieced together in Photoshop) as larger scanners are beyond our budget. Easy to set up, very easy to scan and save files, but it takes a lot of desktop (actual, not virtual) space.
Would choose this again, and buy from B&H whenever possible.
If it were not for the large overall size of the machine, we would rate it at 5 stars.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard Scanjet 8300 Professional Image Scanner:
It's far better than any other scanner I ever used. Color was very accurate and speed was very good. However, I had some issues with software locking up several times when trying to scan at 4800 optical DPI.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard Scanjet 8300 Professional Image Scanner:
I purchased the ScanJet 8300 about two weeks ago and I find it to be all that I hoped for.
The primary application is scanning of B&W text on 8.5x11 @300 DPI. The included OCR software does a great job even when the font is size 6. It takes about 4 seconds to scan one page, and then the OCR takes less than a second. I almost never have to fix the spelling the OCR program retuns.
The box did not include the software for Windows 7 x64, but it did include instructions on where to go and download it. It was easy to find the software and install it.
I wish I would have purchased it with document feeder, but, I do have the option to buy it separatly.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard Scanjet 8300 Professional Image Scanner:
Good scanner, fast imaging, 14" bed; HUGE unit. Other than that, nothing special. I replaced a 5 year old HP 5370c that created equally good images. If you're happy with your current scanner and don't need an enormous device for the legal page capability, buy smaller! If you have money to burn, this is okay, but it's really nothing special. It should create better quality images than a cheap scanner, but it does not.
