The Cokin Creative Filter System consists of a rectangular plastic filter holder with four slots (one for Cokin rotating filters and three for rectangular ones), a variety of optional adapter rings which click into place and rotate, and many optical resin filters.
There are two Cokin sizes, "A" & "P". The "A" series is adequate for 35mm cameras and camcorders and fits filter sizes from 36-62mm. The "P" series covers diameters from 48-82mm and is generally preferred for everything, particularly wide angle lenses. Over 100 filters and a wide range of accessories are available for each system, i.e. modular lens hoods, lens caps, and storage boxes.

I like it better than hand holding. But be careful on the wide angles (sort of obvious). Works great on my 18-55mm lens as long as I'm not all the way out to 18mm - then you get a tab bit on vignette.
Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with it!

The filter holder and adapter were self explanatory, but somehow I got a pamphlet that was written only in Spanish. It wasn't labeled in Spanish on the package but was inside.

I've been using this filter system for years and love it. After buying this 52mm ring, I now share about 7 different filters (circular polarizer, star filter, and various neutral density and split ND filters) between three different lens sizes. Extremely convenient.
Definitely a lot less expensive than the alternatives, and great quality!

This filter holder works great on my Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens. It threads nicely and stays on. This system allows you to use the same filters on different lenses.

Handy little holder. Does its job excellently and lets you develop a broad lineup of filters for all your lenses.
I bought this one to attach to my 50mm lens (my favorite) but don't use it much in the field; mostly used in controlled settings for creative filters.
Why? The bulky adapter ring. Its the only drawback I've found. The adapter ring is a bit cumbersome to leave attached to such a small lens all the time. It won't even fit in my bag attached, so I remove it before storing my camera away.
Go ahead and buy the holder/adapter ring kits because it's only a little more than the adapter ring alone and you get an extra holder as a backup or to mod to your needs.

I will use this with the Cokin Grad Kit to enhance my landscape photography. I always wondered how some photographers and film camera people got such nice looking skies when all mine were blown out. Mind you this was back in my 35mm film days (1970's) before the Internet and computers. Now I know!!!!
