Prior semi-pro current advanced amatuer.
I have not used this unit much yet, but thus far I have found it to a good addition to my FZ50, which was purchased as point and shoot alternative to my Canon SLR and all it's equipment.
This flash has offered nice flesh tones, as well as the built in does for when extended range is not required. With this exteranal unit I was able to capture acceptable exposure of a stage full of kids, in a dark theater, 100+ feet away!
It requires two AA bateries, rather than four, which leaves the unit compact enough to mount on my FZ50 and still give me the abilty to carry all I need in one piece on a single shoulder strap. Don't get me wrong, there is some bulk to the camera and the flash together and you're not going to be able to carry them in your pocket, but your not going to carry in your pocket the abilities you have with this flash mounted on the FZ50. I do not yet know if the power consumption is an issue with only using two AAs, for as stated above I have not yet used this flash on extended events. No matter what the result, carrying a few extra batteries is not too much of a burden.
At this time I can say the TTL Auto features all link to my FZ50 well, and if your shooting in auto mode, you are good to go with this flash's interface with the camera.
I wish the zoom head went out a little further and I think the price is high, even at B&H's more than reasonable pricing, but I would recommend this unit to anyone that wants to extend the range of thier built in flash on compatible Panosonic and I'm sure Leica camera.

Comments about Panasonic DMW-FL360 Shoe Mount Flash (Guide No. 118'/36 m at 85mm):
With good quality batteries ( Nimh ) I had no problems with fast cycling times and the preflash is so quick that there was no red eye or startled expressions.
The adjustable head meant that I got good bounce flash.
The auto flash worked to give well exposed photos without too many background deep shadows.
It is quiet tall and it is a little top heavy on my Lumix GF1
I am very happy with this unit.
I would like to add the unbelievable fast delivery and terrific packaging all the way to Australia, terrific job B&H !!!!

That was gift for my son. For the price I expected much more. Is lite, small and working OK but to slow. I used to work with Canon Speedlites which are v. good and I'm disappointing with this model.

Does what it is supposed to do. I use it on the Lumix LX5 and it weighs heavier than my camera!! otherwise its a very good ext flash to have. Its pricey though.

Comments about Panasonic DMW-FL360 Shoe Mount Flash (Guide No. 118'/36 m at 85mm):
The flash is small, light, and can be tilted and twisted, but the recharge time is unacceptable, even with brand new batteries. I am upgrading to a Metz.
Slightly underexposed with a GF-1, but fixable in Photoshop.
The tilt lock and the twist lock are separate buttons, cannot be adjusted in a hurry. The 180 degree twist can be done only in one direction, the other direction is a max of 90 degrees, leaving a full 90 degrees of the 360 degree circle unreachable.

Comments about Panasonic DMW-FL360 Shoe Mount Flash (Guide No. 118'/36 m at 85mm):
I do have 3 different speedlites which are Canon 430EX II, Nissin Di466(4/3) and DMW-FL360.
The obviously difference is that only uses 2 AA alkaline, which is the same as Olympus FL-35. The good thing of that is light,built-in diffuser and 2-way angle(180° & 270°, Di466 1-way only).
Simple interface:
Yes, that's really simple.
POWER: Power ON/OFF
MODE: Auto/Manual
ZOOM: Auto/Manual Zoom(12 to 42mm)
DIAL: GN Output(GN1.8 to 20) or Aperture(f/1.4 to 32)
TEST/CHARGE: pilot
Please note:
1. Recycle time is quite long, you need to wait second when the output up to 10GN(test with Sanyo Eneloop)
2. You need 2 more spare batteries
3. Plastic mount
4. No wireless slave
5. No personal setting menu
6. No percentage of power output, GN only
7. Buttons are small and flat
In conclution, DMW-FL360 is a good Cost/Performance flash for beginer and M4/3. Cheap, light & easy to use. So far so good.

I got this for my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ100. Because of the superzoom, head flash is not powerful enough to cover up far shots. I'm just a point and shoot person, this flash has TTL auto so when I'm zooming in and out, the flash will auto adjust the flash power according to my setting. The light can be tilted upward, very useful to do bounce light. It comes with a nice pouch.

I use my digital camera to transcribe my important documents and family photo's to my PC so that I can access them without a tedious physical search for whatever I require at the moment. The addition of the DMW-FL360 external flash has proven to be the exact device that I needed to perform close-up photography of my older documents.

I OWN AN OLDER MODEL PANASONIC LUMIX DIGITAL CAMERA DMC-LC5 AND THE PANASONIC DMW-FL360 EXTERNAL FLASH ATTACHMENT IS JUST THE PERFECT FLASH THAT I REQUIRE TO SHOOT IN OVERCAST CONDITIONS. I USE THE EXTERNAL FLASH IN LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS WHICH ENHANCES MY PHOTOS WHICH RANGE FROM WINTER SCENERY TO CLOSE UP'S OF ITEMS THAT I UPLOAD ONTO MY PC,

I purchased this to use with an Panasonic Lumix GF-1 Micro 4/3 camera and am quite pleased with the purchase. It's lightweight and this works well with the small camera body of the GF-1.
As a direct flash, it provides plenty of illumination and doesn't tend to overexpose badly. It's best use has been as a bounce flash where it provides adequate light even when dealing with 16-20ft high ceilings.
Cycle time could be faster (only two AAs), but for my purposes, it's been great.
Went with the branded flash mainly for guaranteed interoperability.

Comments about Panasonic DMW-FL360 Shoe Mount Flash (Guide No. 118'/36 m at 85mm):
With regular alkalines, it takes around 8 seconds for the flash to be ready after firing; get the Energizer ultimate or whatever they're called, the lithium type--brings to less than 1 second.

I got the DMW-FL360 as a dedicated flash to go with my Panasonic DMC-FZ50. It works well, has sufficient flexibility for my applications, and is just what I needed. I would have bought the higher guide number model but settled for the FL360 at about half the price; and it has been adequate even for photos in a large room with dark walls and windows. [...]

Comments about Panasonic DMW-FL360 Shoe Mount Flash (Guide No. 118'/36 m at 85mm):
I use the flash mainly for my macro work... Hence the need for the "Off Camera Cord" The diffuser and the ability to dial the flash power down on my FZ50 is helpful, but the taking the flash off the hot shoe would be way more accurate. The ability to bounce light off the ceiling with indoor shots is a real plus.
