We've read mountains of reviews saying digital is digital and it doesn't matter the brand of tape you use, although, we've recently switched to these Canon tapes and we are more than satisfied with the quality and the reliability of this tape. We've used a Sony brand of tape for years until a recent project forced us to look for another tape. In other words our once in a lifetime shot was ruined by a batch of bad tapes! We are very satisfied with the new union of our Canon XL2 and the HDVM tape.

I use my canon HV-30 to convert my old s-VHS tape to digital format. After 20 times copying the old s-VHS to this tape and converts the content to digital format I haven't see any drop at all. I don't know if other tapes will be as good but if I can use just one expensive tape to finish the job, that cost is pretty low for each single conversion.

These tapes are among the most expensive I've ever used, but they're the only thing I put in my Canon XL-H1 camcorder.
They are consistent and reliable. I shoot a lot of start/stop footage and have had not a single problem with the tapes.
Downside, they're expensive, but worth it if you need consistent and reliable performance. I have never had a misfeed or tape jam with these tapes.

As far as comments regarding color reproduction: digital is digital...any digital tape you use will give you EXACTLY the same results in terms of color reproduction and clarity. The only question is whether or not these tapes suffer from dropouts; and they seem to be just as reliable as Sony's.
