The Canon PowerShot G7 Digital Camera has a matte black, retro-hip design that houses impressive capabilities, including 10.0 megapixel resolution and a powerful 6x optical zoom with Optical Image Stabilization for clear shots throughout the zoom range.

The camera also incorporates Canon's latest generation of image processor; the DIGIC III. This processor delivers rapid performance with improved image quality and incorporates Face Detection AF/AE and advanced Noise Reduction, which extend the camera's low-noise performance to ISO 1600.

The high-resolution 2.5" LCD screen has a wide viewing angle and anti-glare coating for easier image framing and playback. Furthering the potential for creative photography, the PowerShot G7 is equipped with hot shoe support for Canon Speedlite flash units and is compatible with a range of optional converter lenses.

Precision engineered lenses reduce and correct aberrations, while Canon's new SR coating technology (used here for the first time in a digital camera) virtually eliminates ghosting. The Safety Zoom feature allows users to extend the camera's zoom range without interpolation affecting image quality. Images can be captured at up to 14x zoom with enough resolution for lab-quality postcard (10 x 15cm) prints.
Optical Image Stabilizer Technology
The PowerShot G7 achieves excellent-quality images in situations prone to camera shake and image blurring - thanks to Canon's exclusive Optical Image Stabilizer. Whether you're shooting outdoors at dusk, inside without a flash, or at the end of the zoom range, camera shake is detected and effectively canceled.
DIGIC III Image Processor with Face Detection
The DIGIC III Image Processor delivers superior image quality, ultra-responsive performance and extended battery life. DIGIC III provides a speedier interface for the G7's SD memory card as well as higher definition for its LCD monitor. DIGIC III also empowers Canon's Face Detection AF/AE, which finds all the faces in the frame and sets the most suitable focus point, when the shutter button is depressed half-way. Exposure and flash are controlled to ensure proper illumination of both the faces and the overall scene, eliminating the common problem of darkened or overexposed faces. In addition The PowerShot G7 incorporates iSAPS Technology which is an entirely original scene-recognition technology developed for digital cameras by Canon. Using an internal database of thousands of different photos, iSAPS works with the fast DIGIC III Image Processor to improve focus speed and accuracy, as well as exposure and white balance.

Compatible with Auxiliary Lenses and EOS Speedlite Flashes
The PowerShot G7 is compatible with many shooting accessories, not only wide and tele converter lenses (optional lens adapter required), a waterproof case and High-Power Flash designed for all of the PowerShot models, but it is also compatible with Speedlite EX series Flash Units. By using Speedlites, the G7 is able to have extra functions such as autoflash metering, FE lock and Flash exposure compensation, continuous shooting with external flash, and more.

G7's expanded selection of ISO settings is now controlled from a dedicated dial, for quick, intuitive access. The camera's comprehensive Mode Dial is thoughtfully positioned, both to provide an easy shooting experience and to avoid accidental turns.
High-Resolution Movie Mode
The PowerShot G7 allows you to record extremely smooth, high-resolution movie clips in XGA at 15 fps (1024 x 768 pixels) or select from VGA (640 x 480 pixels) and QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) with frame rates of 30 fps and 15 fps for recording up to 1 hour or 4GB. Plus Compact Movie Mode (QQVGA; 160 x 120 pixels) records at 15 fps for up to 3 minutes. With the highly flexible movie mode, you can create the movie that's perfect for any application.
Wide Range of Shooting Modes
A wide range of Shooting Modes help deliver excellent results in almost any situation. Preset Special Scene modes assist with picture taking in tricky lighting conditions, including Indoor, Beach and Snow, Aquarium, Night Scene, and more. For creative experimentation, Color Accent and Color Swap modes enable dramatic color effects to be applied to images and movies direct from the camera - you can keep one color and change the rest to black and white with Color Accent, or exchange one color for another with Color Swap. The cameras also feature My Colors photo effects for additional in-camera color customization.
Advanced Shooting for More Creative Control
In addition to Auto Exposure and the preset Shooting Modes, The PowerShot G7 also provides advanced exposure control features for greater creative expression. The Program (P) mode access advanced exposure compensation features while shooting mostly automatically. The Aperture-priority (Av) mode lets you define the aperture to either isolate your subject or have clarity throughout the entire picture, and the camera will choose the corresponding shutter speed. The Shutter-priority (Tv) mode lets you select the shutter speed to stop or blur action, and the camera finds the appropriate aperture. With slow exposure times, Canon's noise reduction system activates to ensure low image noise. The Manual (M) is the ultimate in creative control, where you set ISO speed, exposure compensation and white balance. In addition, a Custom (C) mode lets you define and store your own settings to achieve the effects you prefer, and Stitch Assist lets you build awe-inspiring panoramas by neatly aligning sequential images.

Easy, Flexible Direct Printing Options
The PowerShot G7's Print/Share button makes direct printing easier than ever. Simply connect the camera to a Canon Direct Photo Printer or PictBridge supported printer, press the Print/Share button and print. The Direct Print feature allows for image preview and editing (including cropping) on the camera when connected to a compatible printer. Also use the Print/Share button to transfer images directly to a computer (Windows).
