The Impact Universal Battery Tester EC741 for AA, AAA, 9V, CR-V3 and 2CR5 Batteries is a neat little accessory to stash in your gear bag, luggage or pocket. This little beauty is like having a battery "doctor" with you all the time.
Using its fuel gauges, it will conveniently let you know the status of your batteries. It's like having an extra pair of eyes to watch out for your "charge" while you concentrate on shooting.
Note! It is NOT a charger. Does not accept CR-2 batteries

Yes a very handy tool. We all need to know the state of our batteries when we use them for a second or third time. We all would like to know... is this battery going to last for the next assignment?
This battery tester so far is an excellent measuring gage. Even more so when you invest in rechargeable batteries and you have to ask yourself, when last did I charge this particular battery... two weeks ago, may be three? Not only will this tester give you a fair idea of time last charged, with a little experience, it will help you to judge the useable state, in a quick unexpected call to action.
If you have a couple battery sets, you may knowingly choose to use and better drain the half empty sets first, a choice you may want to make when optimal battery performance is not so critical. It's also handy if your battery sets are all looking alike, you can test and choose to sort equal charged batteries for duty or recharge cycle, as has always been recommended.
Some of us have this challenge happening all the time when we use an odd number of batteries, like in the Nikon SB 800 flashes with optional 5th battery chambers, while having to buy sets of four batteries.
At this price, with no power required, this Impact Universal Tester helps you make wise, or better yet, informed decisions. So far this is a joy to have in my arsenal to help sort me out. My one caveat, I would have loved to see it come with a hard plastic swinging cover, so I could feel confident tossing it anywhere with my camera gear, while still protecting the contact ends. I feel these ends need not be so exposed.

I bought this specifically to test 2CR5 batteries and although they advertise being able to test them, it does not. The leads of the batteries are reverse of the contacts in the tester (polarity of termianls is opposite polarity of the tester contacts when fiting battery in tester). Even if you match the battery leads to the tester contacts in a very awkward way, it does not read the voltage correctly. Shear junk!

This product is easy to use. It does seem to be accurate. We use a lot of rechargeable AA batteries and were having difficulty keeping track of which ones were charged. This product made it easy to figure that out.

Pretty easy to just slide the battery in, and read the number of green lights
