The Sony UP-CX1 Digital Photo Printer is a high-speed digital professional photo printer which uses dye-sublimation technology to deliver beautiful smudge-, water- and dust-resistant pictures displaying crisp, vibrant colors with natural, continuous tones. Sharp and high-definition prints of the UP-CX1 satisfy the needs of quality demanding customers.
Its print engine enables the UP-CX1 to operate at high speed -printing a 3.5 x 5" image in approximately 13 seconds, a 4 x 6" in approximately 16 seconds, a 5 x 7" in approximately 17 seconds, and a 4 x 8" print in approximately 21 seconds. High-speed printing of the UP-CX1 enables high volume printing in a short time, minimizing the wait time for customers.
The UP-CX1 measures only 10.9 x 10.4 x 15.0" so it can fit in into small spaces. Ribbon and paper replacement is quick and easy...all you do is snap in a ribbon cartridge in the side of the unit and a roll of paper in the front-loading paper holder. When using the optional paper holder UPA-CPH1, users can switch between print sizes quickly and easily.

Reasonably easy to set-up with good print quality. A little weighty when loaded with relevant media.

Comments about Sony UP-CX1 Digital Photo Printer:
Been using the printer for about a week. Like the easy set up and quick printing.
Only drawback is that it prints 4x6's in about 25 seconds, not the advertised 16 seconds.

Comments about Sony UP-CX1 Digital Photo Printer:
We are using this printer for a professional Photo booth. Big improvement over the smaller printer we were using. Quality and speed of the printer is fantastic. The initial setup was very easy and the cost of the supplies is within reason. Love the fact that you can get a large number of prints before you have to change cartridge and paper.

Comments about Sony UP-CX1 Digital Photo Printer:
I use Snaplabs for event photography professionally and they deliver quality 4x6 and 5x7 prints very quickly on location. The CX1 is the same as it's big brother without the touch screen and card slots. I use them with a computer so the value is great for me.

Comments about Sony UP-CX1 Digital Photo Printer:
I use this for my Photobooth business and it works well. The prints are as fast as advertized and the images look good. They could be sharper but are more than acceptable. The cost of about $0.20 per 4x6 print is great. It requires some adjustment to get the output colors to match what is seen on the screen. I love the portability, speed, and value!

Comments about Sony UP-CX1 Digital Photo Printer:
This printer works great while shooting tethered to a computer. I used it for Halloween pictures at our studio and the process couldn't have been better with the UP-CX1. By the time the clients were finished taking their pictures they selected the image they wanted and when they made their way to the counter to pay the print was ready and waiting for them. I was also delighted when I found out that there was a matte finish option. I couldn't be happier with this printer!
The only beef I have is when I tried to run it from a different PC the color was very dark. When I went back to my main computer it worked perfect. I don't know why the change.

Comments about Sony UP-CX1 Digital Photo Printer:
I bought this printer mainly to use for business. It took a little while to sort somethings out, but I got it sorted (my fault for not checking colour spaces). I have it set up with increased sharpness, darkness and lightness to closely match what i see on the screen. I may need to calibrate one of these days, but that will come later. I also think that the 'dynamic range' for want of a better expression, is a little lacking
As to the print quality... it is not Pro lab quality, but it is actually quite good and definitely produces sellable prints. Of the samples I have done, all who have seen them find them pretty good. They are not as glossy as a pro lab, or as sharp, but they are sharp enough and glossy enough for... well... sellable prints and snapshots.I also think that the 'dynamic range' for want of a better expression, is a little lacking, but you can live through it. You have to be 'pixel peeping to notice.
The only issue I would say that I have with it is that the paper feels to thin and a little flimsy and easy to tear.
as far as comparisons go to the Hi Ti S400, I think the Hi Ti is a bit sharper and has a touch more punch, but not as smooth and definitely not as fast as the Sony. The colour and sharpness are so close they can be adjusted for in post and printer setup, but the speed really wins it for the Sony.
all in all a great buy.
