Bought the Canon Tele and Wide accessory lenses for my G9 and also bought two of these LA-DC58H adapter rings. They work well and fit perfectly, even the lettering on the lens and the adapter line up when the adapter is screwed on. The knurling on the adaptor gives you a nice firm grip and when attached to the camera you can support the body and lens with your left hand and work the shutter release with your right hand, the same technique one would use to properly hold a SLR.
Since I have both the wide and the tele lenses I bought two adapters and keep them mounted on the lenses all the time. The sack that comes with each lens is deep enough to accommodate the lens with the adapter attached.
My advice - buy one (or 2) now. Since the G9 - G7's are discontinued items the Canon web site and other equipment sites seem to be running out of stock. My guess is once these are gone there will not be any more new ones available.

The LA-DC58H Lens Adapter is your only choice when you want to attach filters or any supplement to your Canon G7 or G9 camera.
The device works fine and the 58 mm thread in the front side is precisely made so your filter won't jam.
I think Canon could go a little further in the construction of this items and make them in metal instead of plastic i didn't break it yet but it seems I need to be careful with it.

Comments about Canon LA-DC58H Lens Adapter:
I was not able to find this adapter at any of the quality camera retail outlets in San Francisco but I found it in a jiffy at B and H. It arrived in great condition and fit like a charm. Great price too. I will definitely buy from B and H again.

The quality is excellent and solid. I found some cheap institutions but can't trust, rather pay little more. You get what you play.

Comments about Canon LA-DC58H Lens Adapter:
The Need:
Required to attach telephoto and fisheye lens adapters to my G7
The Good:
It's just an adapter but it works exactly as advertised, finished construction, good fit.
The Ugly:
It would have been nice if it had come with a end cap for when the adapter is not in use. It's made of plastic, not an entirely bad thing since it's light but I think the Lensmate is made of aluminum and may come with an end cap so it may be worth finding for a couple $ more.

when I bought the wide angle lens for my canon g-9 I had no idea I needed this adapter! When I got my lens home it wouldn't go on the camera. I called B+H and they said I needed this ring. It is guite large for an adapter ring, but it works fine. I think the wide angle lens I bought should have directions in the box showing that you need the adapter, or better yet it should come with the adapter. I might not have bought the lens knowing it was going to be that big in the camera bag. But the ring works fine

Specialist from B&H recommended this. It did not fit my Cannon (I bought it specifically for this camera). Will have to return it.

Comments about Canon LA-DC58H Lens Adapter:
It's necessity that I need to use my polarizing filter
Its easy to attach/detach
The only problem I have with it is that it obstructs the built in flash but thats unavoidable with Point and Shoot camera lens adapters.

This has a purpose - it adapts a 2x telephoto auxilary lens to my G-9. It also has a hidden purpose... With the addition of a cokin 58mm filter adapter ring, it will mount a Canon ringlight to my G-9. I just love things that have more than one purpose, don't you? By the way, the ring light works great and is TTL with the camera. KJK..Man with a Camera photography

Comments about Canon LA-DC58H Lens Adapter:
This must be used when using any Tele or wide angle lens for the G9. Unfortunately, it is made of a flimsy plastic and not aluminum or some other metal. It does not lock to the camera tightly and there is some wobble from the connection point in addition to the flexing of the unit itself. I would gladly pay a few more dollars to buy a metal version that fits more snugly and stronger.

With this I'm able to use several 58mm filters left over from a previous camera system. Also offers protection to lens and allows use of a lens cap.
Snaps in place nicely. Your P&S now looks like a miniature DSLR. Well worth the small price.

Comments about Canon LA-DC58H Lens Adapter:
Do not have either of the conversion lenses for the Canon G9 yet, but did purchase Canon UV filter to use with the lens adapter. Son says it was a challenge to install the filter onto the adapter and even a little tricky connecting the adapter to the camera, but worth the time involved to get it right. The adapter works very well with the UV filter and the adapter also serves as a lens shade; in our sunny climate that makes a big difference. If he purchases conversion lenses in the future he will also consider purchasing an extra lens adapter to attach to each of them to make it easier and less time consuming when switching from one to the other.

Comments about Canon LA-DC58H Lens Adapter:
The adapter is required to be able to use the TC-DC58C teleconverter lens with the Canon G9 camera...It is lightweight and can stay on the end of the lens in the provided lens sack. Easy to attach to the camera. Only negative thing I see is that is unlatches from the camera with a slight twist. Would have liked it to lock into place better...Over all though, no problems and like I said, it is required!

Comments about Canon LA-DC58H Lens Adapter:
Purchased the Canon LA-DC58H Lens Adapter for my Canon G9. Works great!! The only thing is it should come with a dust cap for the end that mounts to the camera. The Canon Tele Converter TC-DC58C comes with a lens cap. When the adapter+Converter are removed it leaves that end wide open leaving it susceptible to dust\dirt.

I purchased this only for lens protection. IMHO, 80% of broken PnS's are from bashed lenses. [$] is inexpensive insurance. Be warned that this adapter WILL block some of the view through the viewfinder. Just a trade off.
