Comments about Sunpak PF30X TTL Shoe Mount Flash (Guide No. 98.5'/30 m) for Nikon i-TTL:
The settings are few so if you are looking for a manual flash look elsewhere. If you want a flash that is simple, light and would compete against say a sb400, at half the price, then maybe you want to look at this. It takes 2 AA's which means lighter weight with REALLY long recycle times. Don't have huge expectations and have a little patience then it may work well for you.

Comments about Sunpak PF30X TTL Shoe Mount Flash (Guide No. 98.5'/30 m) for Nikon i-TTL:
I wanted something small to go with a D40 I picked up to use as a point & shoot and ended up with this.
When I first got it, it didn't work right so I tested it on a older camera (D70) and it worked fine. Lucky me! Sunpak is only 2 miles from my house I stopped by and they updated the FW and now it works fine. If you're looking for a small flash that will give you a little more then the pop-up this one is well worth it. I would buy it over a SB-400 any day.

Comments about Sunpak PF30X TTL Shoe Mount Flash (Guide No. 98.5'/30 m) for Nikon i-TTL:
I bought this unit to as inexpensive alternative to the premium Nikon SB flash units. Although I have been satisfied with Sunpak flash units over years, I returned this one to the store unused for the following reasons:
Unit capable of i-TTL mode only. No provision for manual flash or standard TTL modes and 10 sec specified recharge time.
Apparent flimsy construction and lack of alternative modes makes me believe that this unit is not good value for money. I will stick with my old manual solidly built Sunpak unit for the time being and investigate further.

Works well with the D50, no issues. Only downside is that it is slow to recycle, but for little money it does great!

Comments about Sunpak PF30X TTL Shoe Mount Flash (Guide No. 98.5'/30 m) for Nikon i-TTL:
This flash was completely incompatible with the D40x. Wouldn't fire consistently and was not at all iTTL compatible.
