The Sunpak PF30X Shoe Mount Flash is a simple, light-weight, but yet high-featured flash compatible with the latest digital SLR cameras. Robust functions to assist the reproduction of images such as EV adjustment function and bounce function are condensed in a compact and stylish body. Its straightforward button layout and intuitive operability ensure comfortable operation.
- Fully compatible with Canon E-TTL II capable SLR cameras.
- The light volume can be easily changed with the EV adjustment buttons. Can be adjusted in seven steps, up to +/-1.5EV.
- Auto Focus Assist light supports focussing in low-light situations.

I originally bought this for my Canon EOS Rebel XTi. I already owned a Canon EOS Rebel Ti with date back and thought the flash would be a nice addition for my B&W film photography. It would never fire on the Ti. At the time I just chalked it up to incompatibility because the Ti was older equipment. I just bought a Canon EOS 50D and tried it with that camera. It would not fire. When trying to set the flash settings in the camera it gave the error message that it was an incompatible flash. I've had it now for too long for any warranty replacements or repair so I'm just going to chalk this one up to live and learn.
I should also mention that the battery door doesn't stay closed very well after a relatively short time of use.

This flash (purchased at B&H) worked nicely on my rebel xt. It is compact, light and uses only 2AA batt. When I got my 40D it would not sync. Called sunpak and I sent it in. They said ther was no upgrade for software so sent me a brand new flash that isnt even seen in stores and it did not fire with my 40D either. Sold the flash and bought 430EX just because I knew it would work. That is the only reason I gave it three stars, if would have worked with 40D I would give 4 to 4.5
