The Xrite Mini ColorChecker Card is a smaller version of the Original ColorChecker, maintaining the same checkerboard array of 24 scientifically prepared colored squares in a wide range of colors. However, its handy pocket size makes it great for location shots. Many of the color patches represent natural objects of special interest, such as human skin, foliage and blue sky, and are not only the same color as their counterparts, but also reflect light the same way in all parts of the visible spectrum. Because of this unique feature, the squares will match the colors of natural objects under any illumination and with any color reproduction process.

The ColorChecker provides a totally non-subjective standard of comparison to help determine the true color balance of any color rendition system, and provides the needed standard for comparing, measuring and analyzing differences in color reproduction in various processes, thereby avoiding costly mistakes. Achieve true-to-life color reproduction.

Achieve true-to-life color reproduction
Minimize tedious trial and error color adjustments
Simplify camera and studio lighting balance
Smaller Size - 2.25 x 3.25" (5.7 x 8.3 cm) - makes it ideal for location shooting.

I purchased this card instead of it's big brother because I wanted a smaller color checker as there simply isn't enough room in my kit for a larger version. I could stuff one in, but it would likely become damaged. The smaller size makes this product ideal for use in my stuffed camera bag.

I use this to create Camera Raw profiles for my Rebel XT, EOS 30D and EOS 40D using the DNG Profile Editor and as a reference for color balancing photos.

I bought the color checker for a job copying paintings and drawings. I like that they had a small size as I was able to place it in the frame of all the images I shot of the paintings. It is very useful now that I am processing the images on my computer. I just place the color checker next to the computer by the window so that it is illuminated by skylight and use it as a pretty good calibrator. I would really be guessing at the accuracy of the colors in the paintings without it. Frankly, I balked at the price of the large color checker but I am now glad I bought the small one. My main complaint though is that it should not be made of paper--too flimsy

Comments about X-Rite Mini ColorChecker Card:

I'm sure there are a lot of other uses for this card, but my use is for white balance. This card makes it ridiculously easy to balance colour in my shots. Instead of playing around with sliders in lightroom as I used to, I just take a shot of this card in each lighting setup, and use one of the grey squares on the bottom row to balance that shot and apply the same change to the entire series. Perfect, consistent colour.
It is actually quite small too which is a positive in that it's easier to keep with me, but a bit bigger would be great. In fact, I'd be happier to not have any of the coloured squares if it meant the greys were larger.

Comments about X-Rite Mini ColorChecker Card:

Product does what is supposed to and that's why I gave it 3 stars. However it lost points because it is made of paper. Only a little bit thicker than a business card. It feels flimsy and not like its worth what I paid. I wish it would have been made from a sturdier material.
I really don't know how long it will last.

Comments about X-Rite Mini ColorChecker Card:

Makes white balance and color correction a cinch, even with difficult light. I'm just a little disappointed at the packaging--for what amounts to a [$] piece of paper, I'd like something a bit more substantial than a grey vinyl sleeve to store it in.

Comments about X-Rite Mini ColorChecker Card:

I use this mini colorchecker for color managment in my documentation photographs for conservation treatments.

It makes my job so much easier and enables me to provide the most color accurate images for my reports.

Make sure you don't touch the color swatches with your fingers or you will ruin the color values and be sure to always store it in its protective casing whenever it isn't in use - otherwise you risk fading the colors.

Comments about X-Rite Mini ColorChecker Card:

I bought this product because I'm not content with the colors of my images and relying on other techniques of color correcting in Camera Raw. This simplifies the task of color correcting multiple images and makes my work accurate and flow faster. It's size makes it easy to carry around for your photo sessions.

Cons it's a piece of cardboard, but it's not that expensive, so if you lose it or tear it, it can be easily replaced.

I used this Mini ColorChecker Card with a White Balanced camera sensor to make photographs of small pins I own. I was able to cut my editing down by 75% and the colors turned out true and rich. I have the standard size version of this Munsell Color tool to use on larger subjects. The instructions were clear and concise.

this color checker card is a big time saver when correcting for color accuracy in photoshop. used it for copywork shots and as long as i didnt change the light setting i was able to correct the color in all my shots with 1 click in photoshop using this card as a guide.

i plan on buying the larger version for more scenarios as this small card is probably only good for studio/tabletop work.

It verifies your screen's color as well.
