Comments about X-Rite ColorChecker Mini 3-Step Gray Scale Card:
I often happen to do copywork of ancient artworks. I believe that virtually no light source we use is neutrally balanced, and this card provides a safe, basic level of color accuracy. I usually shoot two Raw files of the same image, one of which containing the scale. I copy the gray balance setting of the first file and paste it into the second one: the card's printing quality is just perfect, and if the gray is neutral, the white and black will follow accordingly. I then decide which input values to give the black and white areas in Photoshop, depending on the contrast I prefer to achieve.

I use this product to obtain color correct photos when using my ExpoDisc is not an option. It's extremely reliable and very portable, great for casual photographers who are having issues with color shifts in photos.

Comments about X-Rite ColorChecker Mini 3-Step Gray Scale Card:
This little card works great.
It's about the size of a credit card and is a few millimeters thick. The actual test areas are made from a special matte material that looks like it will readily absorb dirt from fingers, etc. Because of this, the card is supplied with a plastic slip-on case, and the whole thing fits in a thin cardboard envelope that's the size of a CD case.
It seems a little expensive for what it is. However, I've noticed that anything having to do with calibration is generally more expensive than I'd expect, so there must be a lot of work going on behind the scenes to make these targets.
In practice, this card is very useful for getting accurate color from imported RAW files. I can use the gray band to set the white balance. Then I can use all three bands to set the values for white, gray, and black tints using the corresponding eyedroppers in Aperture. (Until X-Rite releases a ColorChecker Passport plugin for Aperture users, this 3-step gray scale card is the best way to achieve quick, accurate white balance adjustment during post processing.)
The small size of this card is useful because it fits in my camera bag, and I don't have to worry about it getting damaged. I can also hold it out in front of the camera to get a test shot in the ambient light.
I only have one recommended caution about this product. If you usually shoot long lenses, you likely won't be able to hold the card with your left hand (arm extended) and take an in-focus picture of it with the camera in your right. In these circumstances, a similarly-sized plain gray card might work better because it will present larger (albeit out of focus) target.

Comments about X-Rite ColorChecker Mini 3-Step Gray Scale Card:
Having a true gray to set levels with in Photoshop without having to poke around the image to get it saves a ton of time. The credit card size makes it extremely easy to carry in my pocket or my gig bag. It's a little pricey for the size, but it's nice that it's always there to help me nail the color.

Many home theater sceens have a color shift that degrade color fidelity - we use Exrite Gray cards to choose screen surfaces with flat spectral response and to calibrate HDTV projectors

Comments about X-Rite ColorChecker Mini 3-Step Gray Scale Card:
One click color cast removal in photoshop (perfect gray target) that is small enough to take anywhere. The white and black points also come in handy, but personally I use them rarely. Hmm.. what else can you say about a grey targer? It works as advertised.
