The black Lens Cover for the Nikon 200-400mm VR/VR IILens from LenCoat is a 100% closed-cell neoprene coat that protects the lens from bumps and scratches. It is ideal for nature, outdoor photographers, sports shooters and photojournalists. It also provides a thermal barrier, protecting your hands from cold lenses in lower temperatures. This version comes in a matte all-black finish to better blend in where desirable. Or, it can be used just for its protection value. The cover is waterproof, providing protection in inclement weather.

I take great care of my equipment and when it comes time to trade it for a new version I can count on getting top dollar. I know this product will prolong the good looks of my Nikon big glass.
The LensCoat slips on like a wet suit in all the places that tend to get smacked by branches or rubbed by rocks as you sneak into that perfect spot for a shot of a big bull elk.
Installation is a snap. If you are putting the lens into a padded lens bag like the stock CL L2 the texture of the neoprene does tend to hang up on the bag as you pull it out. No big problem just don't try to fast draw the lens.
