Comments about Canon GL2 Mini DV 3CCD Camcorder Kit:
Professional videographer who needed a reliable main camera for various video projects (wedding, family history, business and training videos). Very happy with the ease of use, quality of video and range in low light conditions. Lightweight construction and adaptable to attachments also are pluses to consider. Very, very happy with GL-2

Comments about Canon GL2 Mini DV 3CCD Camcorder Kit:
I was mainly using Sony's for a while, but the weight ofthis camera was much easier for the outdoor applications Ineeded it for. Works excellent with routine repairs.
Problems Encountered: After heavy tape play, the heads would malfunction. Easy repair.

Comments about Canon GL2 Mini DV 3CCD Camcorder Kit:
I have used two Canon XM-2's which is the Pal version of theGL2, for the past 4 years. The features and image qualityare good for the price, but the mechanics of this camera arenot what you'd expect from Canon. On one of them, I had tosend it in 3 times for a bad zoom mechanism. On the other, Imade the mistake of only getting a 3 yr. wty. And now it iseating tapes, and needs to be serviced-as soon as you put in a tape, the tape eject signal comes on. So if you are on a budget, this is a decent camera, but geta 5 yr. wty. on it, if you can. Or, spend the extra $ and gofor a Canon XH A1, much better camera all around! .
Expertise: 6 years professional videography
Problems Encountered: One camera had 3 times failed zoom mechanism.Second camera had failed tape transport mech. after 3 yearsof moderate use.

Comments about Canon GL2 Mini DV 3CCD Camcorder Kit:
Very good quality for the price, easy to operate, extras that you might not need for video productions but good to have just in case, light weight, easy to carry. Video output is very good quality and I have had TV professionals comment and ask what camera I was using. I have had mine for 4 years and had to send it in to Canon for repair (used it quite a bit). I was very pleased with promptness and e-mails I received from them on the status, receiving, repair, and sending it back to me. I highly recommend it. (no, Canon did not pay me).
Problems Encountered: After 3 years and lots of use, it was making motor noise during record/play. Repair was done.
